@NatashaMDay That emergency situation sounds very familiar with my 3 year old! Unfortunately it was a Cat 3 and we had to wait 8hours for a call back due to hospitals are full🤣🤣

I’ve been advised to stay back. The Anklyosaurus has fallen out with lightning McQueen, but there is an ambulance on the way. It’s probably a Cat 3.

@DHSCgovuk That sounds great however what about having the same deal for student paramedics. More and more university places but no increase in newly qualified paramedic jobs for them to go in to. Feels like the ambulance service is forgotten about again

@TheTrojanMedic That would be a fine thing but unfortunately we don't actually get time to train ourselves and our students let alone interagency training.

How often do you train with people, agencies/companies you don't know? When disaster strikes multiple agencies all arrive on scene - different SOPs, comms, kit, working practices and even languages all come in to play. Training, training and more training. #multiagencyapproach

@jbrannan23 It is a sad state that skills are removed from paramedics. Its about not having the protected training time to maintain competency. The NHS ambulance service most training is self motivated in our own time and expense except the mandatory e-learning which doesn't really teach.

Now that endotracheal intubation has been removed from the paramedic skillset will they remove needle cricothyrotomy? A rarely used skill with paramedics unlikely to be proficient. What about pelvic binders? Despite common use the vast majority are still put on incorrectly.

Unfortunately my trust has decided that University students MUST be in the back, As cannot sit in the front on Blue Light drives to jobs as they not trained response drivers so cannot assist with driving safety! 🤷🤦Bonkers

@NatashaMDay Its a shame that no one (except enhanced care team) seems to carry paediatric size kit probably due to cost. When I spoke to a tutor in my trust all they said was vent faster or squeeze the bag abit more....

@MedicMiddle It would be great if we had easy access to training kit on our station. But the kit is locked away in a store room and only CTM can access and use the kit. Such a shame as it just creates a negative environment where people don't want to cos it's too much hassle to do it

@EM_RESUS That is a Cake Fine right there for saying the Q word. Section 19.1(a) of the Cake Offences Act In ambulance world we use The CakeLegislator to enforce such things. @CakeLegislator Can the Ambulance Cake Fines be used in hospital or does that require a legislation change

Good morning all Some very sad news today- our beautiful rescue hen Shaggy Rogers died last night 😞 We don’t know why- she took herself into the back of the shed and lay down and just went to sleep 😞 she only had exactly 1 month of freedom with us 😔💔

@JBPara999 That's brilliant Thankyou. Gives me something to work towards. I'm just finishing my NQP after been delayed getting my reg due to Covid restrictions down here in WMAS. Are there any courses or things I need to know that would help me build towards a PCC application?

@WombleMedic83 PCCs = B7 2 year ACP course then become an SPCC. We have 12 at HEMS, 36 on CCRVs, 7 at HART. All rotate into Consultant-led team platforms. Recruitment as/when HEMS Paras = B6 2 yr secondment at HEMS so recruitment every 2 years

Busy week teaching our Critical Care Foundation Course - a Modular course staff that have a enhanced scope of practice (HART/HEMS/CCP) undertake at relative to their scope of practice. This ensures consistency across teams in the way that these skills and therapies are delivered

@JBPara999 What's the requirements to be able to apply for the HEMS / PCC role ?? And how often do you recruit to these roles?
