Xbox's social media watching PlayStation's disc debacle knowing they'll have to announce the same soon probably lol

Somehow managed to order this through the only local retailer had had any stock of this. AU physical for xbox is in an abysmal state and i won't be suprised if this will be one of the rarest region variants for this game.

Hey Xbox fans! With the industry hell-bent on killing physical media, some of us checked their backlogs for a bit. Which one of these games would you like to see us test next?

Today, Microsoft has an opportunity to reverse that narrative and become the company that stands behind consumer choice. Many gamers still look back on the Xbox 360 era as the golden age of Xbox. The platform was synonymous with innovation, great games, and strong relationships with both players and retail partners. We believe Microsoft can recapture much of that goodwill by reaffirming its commitment to physical gaming and by bringing Project Helix to market. As one of Microsoft's retail partners, we believe a renewed investment in physical media would benefit consumers, retailers, publishers, and Xbox itself. @ZakkenKloot The repercussions of Sony's decision effects the future of game preservation and ownership rights for the foreseeable future. Xbox had another price increase. I'm pretty sure the Sony takes the cake on this one

@ManaByte Under licence from Blu Ray Disc Association of which Sony is part of the board.

This is false. Sony produces their discs at Sony DADC in Austria. Microsoft contracts with Conectiv to produce their discs in plants in Mexico and Tennessee. And they don't buy the discs from Sony either. The Conectiv plants make the discs from scratch.

If Xbox is rethinking everything about Helix then it means it’s early enough to add an option for an external disc drive. They could win next gen real easily just by saying people have the option to have their games the way they want them.

@TheBigPlume While Helix might be digital only but what might be interesting is that series x is and likely to continue to be supported past 2028 for a while yet. Even xbox one which is 13 years old is still getting physical releases so physical could still be supported via Series X

Xbox will stop physical games as well I assume. They shouldn't though.

People would really try and argue with me when they would make comments about Xbox physicals going away and I would say PlayStation would be next. Still surprised to see PlayStation be first lmao 😭
