I said the same thing a few years ago, and Kenyans were morally outraged. I was told it wouldn't solve any problem. When I was saying that it was a rhetorical way of saying that we must value our children above schools, I was not heard. I don't blame them! I had a child in a relatively good private boarding school and we saw things. Majority of those places treat kids like criminals, na hawashibi. Let them burn until we can have a consensus about dignity in our schools.

Fuel was cheaper when it was cleaner. Now Kenyans are being told to accept lower-quality petroleum at a higher price while salaries remain stagnant and the cost of living spirals out of control. What exactly improved? Because if quality goes down while prices go up, then citizens are not experiencing reform but they are experiencing economic regression.

I hate personal hypocrisy arguments. They are annoyingly lazy. Instead of building up a coherent counter-argument to something you don't agree with, you say "you said this last time, how come you are saying this now?" The point is to put the person on the defense. Basically, it's a neoliberal view of life, where people are supposed to be consistent like a straight line, yet life has different contexts and circumstances. It's also an identity argument. The point is the speaker as an individual, rather than what they're speaking about.
