I think about this in two distinct buckets. Ordinary drawdown, a string of losses adding up, is uncomfortable but rarely lethal if sizing is right. The tail event is what actually takes accounts out. One oversized trade, or correlated positions stacking, or holding through a gap. That's the actual risk worth designing around. The fix for the first is patience and sticking to the framework. The fix for the second is mechanical. Stop loss can't be a soft target you'll honor 'most of the time.' Position size has to assume the worst-case slippage. Correlated trades have to count as one position, not three. None of that survives being decided in real time when the trade is going against you.
