New Year, Same Paid Family Leave. #PFL and State Disability Insurance provide paid time off from work to bond with a new child, care for a seriously ill family member, or recover from your own illness. Eligible workers can receive 70%-90% of their regular income while on leave.

We’re excited to share that #SB590 (Durazo): Paid Family Leave for Chosen and #SB578 (Smallwood-Cuevas): California Workplace Outreach Program (CWOP) both passed out of the Assembly Appropriations last Friday and now head to the Assembly Floor!

CA has continued to lead, from passing the nation’s first #PaidFamilyLeave program in 2002, to expanding paid leave coverage and benefits with #SB616 and #SB951! Strong Paid Sick & Safe Days, PFL and SDI programs make CA better for working families and strengthen our economy.

✅ Expanding leave for workers and families: @CAGovernor Gavin Newsom signed legislation giving workers new access to at least five days of paid sick leave each year. The Governor also increased paid family leave from 6 to 8 weeks for parents of newborn children, and put paid family leave in reach of more lower-wage workers by increasing the wage replacement for State Disability Insurance — enabling workers to take paid sick leave or unpaid family leave in order to care for any person designated by the employee, including non-family members.
