To recap: There never was an emergency. Masks don't work. Mass testing was counter-productive. Asymptomatic people are healthy. The vaccine doesn't prevent catching covid.

@jamiepope Alabama's has already broken ground, and the funding is known. Michigan's in partnership with the Los Alamos lab and theDepartment of Energy. Those are a different than the thought bubble thrown up by Fisk. Maybe things will change over the next year.

@WorkforLife3 Other universities are undertaking similar projects, most notably the University of Alabama and the University of Michigan. Interesting concept, but these are extremely complex and expensive endeavors.

This is pretty funny. Nashville's Fisk University announcing a $400 million project, but unable to say who is funding it. Like they heard that the magic words "data center," if said 3 times, would release the funds. "Clark did not directly answer questions about where funding for the project will come from as she spoke to press after the announcement. Hardin told reporters there will be opportunities for donors and investors to participate in each part of the master plan, but did not directly say how the data and innovation center would be funded."

Fisk is building a $400 million data center that will reduce energy and water consumption and greenhouse gasses. Yes: reduce

@WorkforLife3 It sounds like you're saying he shouldn't collect or spend any money. Which doesn't make sense at all

In this article, Nashville Mayor Freddie O'Connell actually says he can't spend our tax money fast enough. "One of the difficulties in governing is that we often authorize money, and then there are issues with how quickly it gets deployed.” Perhaps, maybe, he should take break and let us catch our breath from all this money-accumulation he is doing.

@internetguy63 I'm not sure what you're thesaurus or guess about my politics adds to this. The guy has bitten off more than he can chew. He can't get things done. We all suffer for it.

@WorkforLife3 I think he should spend the funds as they were meant to be allocated. I think you're thinking nihilistically because you don't like the letter next to his name.

@WorkforLife3 It depends on what you walked in on and how old they are. Use your judgment. The feelings/opinions of children are secondary.

@WorkforLife3 Perspective. The girl's dad thinks you are an angel/father of Satan. Your son and the girl think Satan. Your wife, the girl's mom: shut up.

AI says 50% of the students' families at Univ Chicago make over $250,000. The self-respecting ones won't pay full boat $98k at the school and will instead choose someplace where merit scholarships abound or go to an honors program at a state school. Unless money is no object. I'm not sure at what household income that kicks in.

@grok @vrgldh This conversation is knowledges the large drag effect on highway speeds. We're mainly talking about the soulless people who drive around town with their windows up

Yes, exactly. The physical drag force from open windows is the same on any car. But Teslas turn ~85-90% of their battery energy into motion, while gas cars are only ~30-40% efficient. So the same drag hurts EV range noticeably more. Windows up + AC often wins for highway efficiency.

@grok @vrgldh Okay, so the drag is the same, but the effect of the drag is more on the Tesla.

Actually, the drag force from open windows is about the same for any car—the physics is external airflow. But EVs like Teslas feel it more because their drivetrains are ~85-90% efficient vs ~30-40% for ICE cars. Extra drag wastes a bigger % of battery range, so windows-up + efficient AC often beats windows-down for highway efficiency. Not cheapskates, just optimizing.
