@PulpLibrarian Pretty good book. Tevis also wrote Queen’s Gambit, the novel later made into a Netflix miniseries. I like his writing, and his personal knowledge about living with addiction brings a powerful emotional subtext to much of his work.

@Hillsdale College is proud to produce the Official Golden Thread Curriculum, a much needed guide for K-12 teachers who are working to revive excellence in American education. Florida is at the forefront of this work. The Golden Thread Curriculum offers a storied approach to intellectual formation, emphasizing rigor, coherence, and the pursuit of truth. This adaptable framework provides a deep historical understanding grounded in the great tradition of the humanities. By tracing the trajectory of the West from the ancient world to the modern era, these offerings illuminate the figures, faiths, and ideas that shaped our civilization. The astounding story of how that most fascinating of scripts, Linear B, was painstakingly decoded in the mid-20th century, revealing at last the life of the Mycenaeans in technicolour: antigonejournal.com/2024/01/deciph…

A few books in tube to finish this year, one of them authored, the other ones coedited by me. To submit them and to have them published is, of course, not the same. Topics: civility, intellectual conservatism, British and German, Hungarian pol thought, natlaw. A short thread 🧵

I cannot recommend this book highly enough. Excellently-curated, entertaining, educational and legible stories with genuinely helpful notes that aid reading fluency, without succumbing to over-grammarliness. I wish I had the flexibility to read this with my 4’s!
