The Worst attrocities of mankind..shit you wouldn't even bear to listen described.. were made by people who thought they were doing good.. misled by propaganda, their own narcisism, and belief in the "narrative". if everyone else is doing it.. it must be good. The covid years proved the above..

For underdeveloped brains it's the worst thing to experience.. fake connections, hunt for dopamine(likes), avatar mentality(pretending to be something you aren't) etc. It's a good example of Murphy's law.. anything that could go wrong went wrong.. Social media needs a mature brain to avoid the pitfalls and manipulation.. then again.. who is mature in our times?

Social media is terrible for mental health and tricks the brain into having a fake and synthetic version of human connection. Agree or disagree?

Billionaire investor Mark Cuban on why today's large language models will never understand how the real world works: Cuban argues that AI has a fundamental limitation most people overlook. It operates almost entirely on text and images, and that's simply not enough to capture how reality functions. "Right now LLMs are basically bimodal with some video, right? Where it's almost all text and pictures with some video. You can't model the world with that. You just can't." To illustrate the point, he uses a simple but powerful analogy: "A 2-year-old kid with a high chair and a sippy cup knows if it pushes the sippy cup off the high chair, mom's coming running and the kid's going to start laughing at mom." That basic understanding of cause and effect, the idea that pushing something off a ledge means it falls and doing something surprising gets a reaction, is something every toddler grasps intuitively. But large language models? They have no concept of what happens next. "AI right now doesn't understand the consequences of its recommendations. It has no idea what happens next." @mcuban argues that bridging this gap isn't a simple software update. It requires an entirely new class of models, ones that can capture physics, simulate environments, and process the kind of real-world information that can't be reduced to text and images. "We have to evolve to models that can capture the world and physics and deal with the latency of capturing video that you can't see. And so you have to try to model that. And not only does that take up a lot of processing power, but it takes up a lot of bandwidth." And this is exactly why he's not worried about doomsday AI scenarios. The gap between processing words and truly understanding existence is so vast that a hostile takeover remains firmly in the realm of science fiction. "The Terminator's taking over. I just don't see how it's going to happen."

Pro tip from a friend with bison: if the tail starts wagging vigorously, trouble is on the way. When the tail goes straight up, it's too late, trouble has arrived. Watch the tail.
