Today was a slower but still decent day for Tesla robotaxi in Austin. Availability wasn’t uniform during the day. Mornings were the best until noon and then after that the service was pretty sparse. However, I was still able to find a new unsupervised plate (that was previously supervised) later in the evening. I also spotted 17 cars today. Lower than that max we were seeing recently, but still an improvement over what was routine the last couple of weeks. I’m also checking less often than before My website now has an activity graph that lists the history of the number of cars I see each day and the unsupervised mile counter as two decimal points so it looks cleaner

Tesla robotaxi availability has been great today so far. I have barely seen any high service demand today. Otherwise 5-15 min wait times on average

FSD v14.3.6 in mad max is trying to take exits at the last second and then sometimes missing them. This is a new change and v14.3.5 did not do this. In this case the car needed to be in the exit lane and had plenty of time to do so early. It decided to wait until the last second to cross multiple lanes of traffic and missing the exit.

@DavidMoss Max speed control is an anti pattern. We are working on better learning of user’s implied preferences.

@WorldlyReviewer not this shit again. as long as its supervised, the system must allow human override. if it can't be supervised properly, don't engage it

Yesterday once my wife got back home from driving, she comes to me frantically saying she thinks FSD ran a red light. I was skeptical but indeed it did look like FSD ran the red light in the dashcam clip. But then I looked closer and the accelerator pedal had been pressed. Turns out while stopped at the traffic light, she was reaching in the back and accidentally tapped the accelerator. Now this was entirely her fault and she feels bad about it too, but we have also had the crash in Houston where the accelerator was smashed on FSD. @aelluswamy and @Tesla_AI team and others, what are your thoughts on this? Should the accelerator be turned off on FSD? Why yes and why not? I’m curious. There was no cross traffic so my wife got lucky and she is a rookie FSD user (since she doesn’t drive much) but seems like FSD is getting to a point where the humans are making the mistakes even while FSD is on. I guess all input is error

Tesla robotaxi seems to be available in rush hour too today and I see availability at Costco too for the first time during rush hour in Austin. They are spreading out those cars

@JoakimThomsen wouldn’t just pressing the brake pedal to disengage FSD and then use the accelerator manually be better than to be able to use the accelerator on FSD? Though I do agree with you

@WorldlyReviewer Ofc the accelerator shouldn’t be turned off on FSD before it’s level 4. You are responsible for driving the car. Drive the car like the driver you are. If you are unsure whether you can safely manage and drive your car, you should not be in the drivers seat (thank you).

@TeslaqY what is the benefit of keeping the accelerator on? Personally I don’t use it anymore

@WorldlyReviewer That is absolutely ridiculous... That makes no sense to turn off the accelerator unless you have unsupervised full self-driving.

@farzyness yeah agreed. Seems like FSD will start to have a material impact on earnings soon. Robotaxi will still take a couple more years

It is actually remarkable that Tesla was able to have the Q2 that it had, with the obvious upwards demand trajectory that it's on, with a $7.5k tax credit being taken away AND massively negative coverage due to Elon's government involvement. I think people are seriously underestimating the impact FSD is having on Tesla's demand. TikTok/Instagram/YouTube/Car Reviewers are all seemingly collectively waking up to the fact that there's literally no reason to own anything but a Tesla - ESPECIALLY if you have a means to charge at home. Why would you buy a car that costs more to operate, more expensive to maintain, THAT CAN'T DRIVE ITSELF, vs a Tesla? It makes no sense for most people. Almost every single Tesla owner would tell you the same thing. It's now Tesla's turn to finally reach the promise of Unsupervised FSD and for those earnings to start showing up. The more time passes the more I feel like people are WAYYYY too hyper-focused on Robotaxi. The MUCH bigger lever is Unsupervised FSD on privately owned cars. You can sell 2m+ per year of these with recurring revenue in the multi-hundreds per month (due to the fact not having to pay attention is a MASSIVE time unlock) vs hundreds/thousands per year on a Robotaxi network. Robotaxi network should be viewed as a proof of concept. The REAL game changer is a car I can buy that can drive itself without me having to pay attention. Not only that, but when Tesla INEVITABLY makes a compact 2/4 seater on the Cybercab line (Cybercab with steering wheels + pedals aka FARZAD) they will have an ADDITIONAL 2m+ they can sell of these vehicles. DON'T SLEEP ON $TSLA
