@blakepr Fun fact: Blake and I met at our local store in Iowa City when paired in a draft and slowly realized we basically lived the same life. He had just graduated from the school I was at. He had been the sports editor, I now was. And we were both Magic fans! Quite a journey.

Making this about myself for a moment, this is really a bittersweet end of an era. Bill was instrumental in me ever working at Wizards, and it's still strange to me that we both went to the same small Iowa college, played at the same stores & PTQs, and ended up where we are.

I've got a lot of fond memories at #wotc, and certainly the highlights include delivering EventLink and the Magic Companion app, which was a journey almost a decade in the making. Thanks to the great teams and people I worked with along the way. You're the best. END

#MTGCapenna is my last Prerelease as #wotcstaff (I'm leaving #WOTC next Fri.), but it's been a great one to watch with the EventLink and Companion teams. The improvements we've been working on have been holding up strong despite the big increase in traffic for #MTG #prerelease

@WotcB I was at Flow Games in São Paulo, Brazil. We had to stop using companion after the first round and continued on a different software. After 2nd round, there is no going back to companion...

@CaimFabio Hi Fabio, which store are your working with? Systems are showing green across the board, so there aren't any widescale issues but I can reach out to troubleshoot a particular store having issues.

Aware of reports about an event losing a "round." We investigated this morning, and everything was operating normally. The only way for a round to be deleted is for a human to do it and bypass warnings to confirm. We'll pursue any followups. Thanks for the heads up! #wotcstaff

(Also, and not to drag this on, but this is a useful tip in the context of meetings with the members of your team who feel comfortable speaking in front of others. Your team or specific personality dynamics may not be conducive to this, and leading means knowing that too.)

(Note: that also enables you to follow up later to anyone who tries to retcon their disagreement to something by pointing out you gave them the opportunity to object at the time and they chose not to raise the issue.)

#worktip: to get alignment in a meeting, don't ask "Does everyone agree with X?" The priority of who is supposed to respond is muddled. Instead, use, "Does anyone disagree with X?" This is a specific action someone can respond to because they can identify, "Oh, yes, I do!"

Also, not being coy because we’ve announced them before. We’re working on the stuff for later this year, which includes building out some of the functionality for pairing events we put on hold after adjusting designs to support #wpn stores during Covid. Ex: late reg in drafts.

One of the best parts of product management (to me) is being in the weeds on the features you’re building in the future. This week has mostly been that. It’s one of the things that makes me excited to get back at it each day. #wotcstaff
