If your identity is in the game, you’ll feel lost when the game is gone. But if your identity is in God, the game simply becomes a platform. Sports are meant to be played. They were never meant to be worshipped. Train hard. Compete with excellence. Honor God with your effort. Don’t be the player who is too cool to go hard. Whether in a workout or a game, 100% is the bare minimum. Cool has no place in the game. Cool won’t impress anyone, won’t get you more playing time, won’t ever get you better. Cool will keep you on the bench. Cool will get you beat!

Every athlete wants to show their abilities. And there’s a time & place for that. But the best teams have players who can put aside what they want for themselves in favor of what the team needs at that moment. That’s the epitome of character. “We” should always come before “Me”!
