If your ChatGPT visibility dashboard was calibrated on GPT-5.4, rerun the prompt set. GPT-5.5 is still in the same family, but it asks fewer queries, uses fewer site: searches, cites fewer brand pages, and surfaces slightly fresher content.

Pricing pages still matter. GPT-5.5 cited pricing pages less than GPT-5.4, but they were still 8.8% of all citations. For most brands, that’s wildly overrepresented. Keep pricing pages current, crawlable, and easy for AI systems to parse.

GPT-5.5 cites fewer brand sites not because they’re worse, but because it’s less dependent on them. Retrieval is broader. Answers are aggregated. If your brand only lives on your site, you’re underrepresented.

ChatGPT's brand citation rate fell from 57% to 47% in one model update. GPT-5.5 cites brands 47% of the time, down from 57% on GPT-5.4. GPT-5.3 sits at 13%. We analyzed 150 ChatGPT conversations across all three models. 1,821 fan-out queries. 11,469 web results. 1,257 citations classified. The mechanism: GPT-5.4 used Google's site: operator on 40.5% of its searches to force-scope onto brand domains. GPT-5.5 cut that to 12.6%. A 3.2x drop that explains almost every other shift in the data. The surprise: that 10-point average hides 26-point swings by category. Fitness, travel, and ecommerce brands gained visibility under GPT-5.5. Legal, education, marketing, and food brands lost it. A SaaS client and a fitness client will see opposite directional shifts under the same model update. Full breakdown, all results, and the extraction script in the comments:
