In the Mushroom Knight, I specifically avoided the obnoxious girl boss trope found in media with Mila, the main character. She is under the command and guidance of her legendary uncle, whom she adores and listens to with deep respect, and she grows through many failures.

@Real_TRogers Good stuff. I hate the obnoxiousness of the trope and making characters who have to grow through suffering and failure is so much more interesting, and their relationships with wiser, guiding characters offer more chance for nuance.

@AuthorIseult THank you, I really tried to flesh her out with it, giving her her own arc and make her very likeable. Her journey through the series is quite substantial. It's strange for me to think of her in book 1 when I've just finished planning the final book, and how far she's come.
