Road trivia (Upper West edition): 98km Wa → Sawla = 2hrs 17mins (suspension therapy, patience test). 201km Sawla → Tamale = ~3hrs (actual road, actual movement). Moral of the journey: fix Wa–Sawla and Ghana gains back over an hour of life 🚗💨 #FixTheRoad #WaSawla

Anytime in the Upper West Region of Ghana, I take keen interest in the local markets. Promotion of local products at the local markets can be empowering... How about a weekend to market... at Babile or Wa? Happy New Year 2026. Plan your visits!!!

Accra–Kumasi Expressway Project This historic project marks Ghana’s first true expressway, a modern high-speed corridor linking Accra and Kumasi. Stretching almost 200 kilometres from the coast to the forest belt, the expressway will transform travel and trade, cut journey times significantly, and boost growth across the southern regions. The route runs southeast to northwest through the Greater Accra, Eastern, and Ashanti regions, touching key towns like Adeiso, Asamankese, Akim Oda, Ofoase, and Kwaso. In total, the highway covers 198.7 kilometres, including 23 kilometres of urban connecting sections in Accra and Kumasi built to a 4-lane standard at 60 kilometres per hour, and a 175-kilometre main expressway of 6 lanes designed for speeds up to 120 kilometres per hour. It will stand as a symbol of Ghana’s commitment to modernisation, connectivity, and inclusive growth.
