NEW: The Storm Prediction Center is now cautioning that INTENSE tornadoes (EF3+) are possible THIS EVENING in northern Illinois/Indiana/southern Michigan! Confidence is increasing in the potential for one or more supercells to ride the warm front eastwards, gobbling up ample low-level spin.

@estant067 @WeatherNation It is all about the storm structure and the way the vortex actually looks. In the picture, there’s no wall cloud. That is a big indication that it is not from a mesocyclone.

This landspout was spotted in the Texas Panhandle yesterday. Landspouts differ from tornadoes because they are rotating at the surface whereas tornadoes are formed by a rotating updraft from the cloud down to the ground. #TXwx
