So ResetEra user Andshrew and now also confirmed by DoesItPlay, appear to have figured out what's going on with #PlayStation's DRM. The good news is it's only a temporary DRM, not permanent. Here's how it works. When you buy a digital game, you are issued a temporary 30 day license for offline play. This license automatically transitions to a permanent license that will be free from future online check-ins, any time you connect after the 15th day of ownership, just after the 14 day refund window. But you have to log in or be connected to the internet for it to switch. You will not lose the license to the game if don't connect within or after the 30 day temporary license window, but you will be unable to play the game after 30 days, till you do, after which it'll turn into an indefinite DRM free license. Previously you'd be given an indefinite offline play license from the get go. So why did they implement this? It's possible people found an exploit where they could grab the indefinite license file for a game using an exploitable console, and then refund the purchase so they got the game for free. Hence Sony's current method of mitigating said issue is by time limiting the initial license issued. By issuing a temporary licence during the refund window, users can no longer pirate a permanent license and simply refund the game. As long as you log in any time a day after the 14 day refund window of any digital game purchase, it will turn into a permanent DRM free digital licence. Nintendo not dropping Galaxy 3 in 2026 is genuinely going to go down as the biggest mistake in Nintendo history. They absolutely know Galaxy is by far the best game they’ve ever made with how much they did for it this year yet they sadly won’t complete the trilogy.

Splatoon Raiders is the first Nintendo Switch 2 title from Nintendo to launch at €49.99. Interesting move since Yoshi and the Mysterious Book was already cheaper than previous releases, but this goes even lower.

So we got: 60 digital = 70 physical (example yoshi book game) 50 digital = 60 physical (example splatoon raiders) So what will a big AAA tier Nintendo game cost. Will Fire Emblem Fortune’s Weave, a $70/$80 or a $60/$70? 🤔🤔🤔

Splatoon Raiders hits 7/23 alongside new amiibo! Seems like a single player salmon run with unique upgrades and map exploration. The digital version is 6500 yen in Japan so it might be under $70 elsewhere.

Splatoon Raiders being announced and promoted entirely outside of the Direct format is a really interesting test

according to the German software ratings organization, Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream was complete and tested a year ago in May 2025

@AngryExpo Prime 5 will probably be good. Most of the problems with 4 were issues with the initial project that Nintendo forced Retro to include in their version. Retro will probably get Prime 5 out in the next 2-3 years

@KeionJ05 Surprised the NSO apps (especially the Game Boy ones) don’t support GameShare already. Also they’ll probably add Four Swords Adventures but it’ll only be playable in single player

Splatoon Raiders is seemingly rated by PEGI. Rating is not up on PEGI website but Nintendo updated the game page with a PEGI 7 rating (there was no rating as of a week ago). It could also be a provisionnal rating published early by Nintendo though

@DatChaosGuy They definitely announced it because they were hoping to get acquired by Sony and wanted as much money as possible.
