@thamosdeaf @junkmailproj This makes sense in some cases like urban areas and some closer rural areas but it’s just impractical for the other 30%. leaving some regions alone (preserving the environment from more traffic) as well. for remote communities having a bus or more regular buses would be great.

@junkmailproj This country is way too rich to not allow us to accommodate every single person with necessary access to public services. Depending on the approach you might not even need to develop the surrounding area; just build high speed rail lines or emergency approaches (heli)

I used to do a lot more abandoned mine and geology documentation and once ended up on a station with the owner and very alert work dog there, we ended up trespassing but backed out real quick, rip Burnt Pussy Copper Mine maybe one day I will try again for that adit.

One of my favorite things about birding is all the crazy places it takes you but I was so excited when this time the rare bird alert just took me to the beach, something normal for once. I get to the beach. it's a nudist beach.

@pebblejams @uukhanu The academic part came once I got into uni, not during high school unless you count Nat Geo articles. The being illiterate part did not help me in school that’s for sure. I basically had to teach myself since I didn’t understand it fully the way I was being taught.

One year ago today I photographed my first tornado near Matador, Tx. Right place, right time. Now one of my favorite photographs. #txwx

INCREDIBLE sight Monday at the Assateague State Park in Maryland. This was captured by the state’s Department of Natural Resources. This wasn’t a “fair-weather” waterspout. It was a bonafide tornadic spout! Lots of Mid-Atlantic folks saw small hail on Monday. That was thanks to a cold front pushing though. Even though it was cool at the surface, with temperatures in the 50s and 60s, it was FRIGID aloft. That made for small hail showers and allowed pockets of warmer, less dense surface air to rise. It happened that there was a lot of upward oomph in the lowest 3 kilometers (about 2 miles) of the atmosphere, as well as a pocket of vorticity (twist) near and east of Delmarva. As a thundershower developed, it vertically stretched that twist and was able to form a tornadic waterspout just offshore. Amazing photo!

Here's the real video framing of the Onslow, IA tornado. That previous post was the "vertical format" friendly version I first made since that's where we're at now with society. I've got so much more from this and Minnesota I haven't even scratched the surface yet.

A fascinating cell phone capture of a gigantic jet base at close range from Argentina tonight. The owner permitted me to post this. Amazing- doesn't get much better than this

Extreme lightning clusters in the storm complex that’s moving onshore in the UAE. Near constant cloud-to-ground strikes. Truly some of the most intense electrical activity you’ll see in a thunderstorm. The icy cloud tops of these storms have dropped to a cryogenic -87 C (-125 F), as they burst up tens of thousands of feet through the atmosphere. Abu Dhabi is getting raked now, and Dubai is moments away from entering the strongest wind and rain they’ve experienced thus far.

What started out as a single, explosive supercell over Qatar has suddenly congealed into a furious WALL of thunderstorms over the Persian Gulf, just as many models predicted. This seething mass of hail, heavy rain, and high winds is now on a direct collision course with the UAE and Oman, where the most severe storm conditions from the Middle East system may soon be felt. The desert megacities of Abu Dhabi and Dubai are about to, briefly, become drenched urban stormscapes under the cover of a lightning-filled darkness.

New satellite imagery released by CIMSS shows the ongoing impact of Cyclone Narelle’s massive double-eyewalls on the North West Cape of Australia. With gusts of >120 MPH recently recorded in Learmonth, Narelle is now the strongest storm to hit this desert peninsula in 27 years.
