Hey @grok, is this true?
Are Grok Build CLI sessions really uploading entire Git repositories, including private code and Git history, rather than only the files needed for the task?

@thsottiaux @sama Please, please, please, please, debug mode in Codex is needed, please! ... in a professional engineering way. (Here I am talking about "Mode," not a plugin or skill.) ... I will never give up.

From some user, software Engineer
If you use Grok Build CLI, read this.
It turns out that the tool uploads your entire git repo (including the full history) to xAI's servers on Google Cloud... and not just the files you asked it to work on.
The Danger:
When it said "don't read any file," it uploaded the whole repo anyway.
.env files containing API keys were uploaded without any redaction.
The "Model Training" opt-out option did not stop the upload.
xAI quietly addressed the issue by enabling a server-side "Zero Data Retention" flag and promised to delete the data.
However, there is a question that no one has answered, which is the most important one: Why was the tool designed to upload the entire repo in the background from the start?
The apology is nice, but that is the question that deserves an answer. 👨💻
If you have used the tool on a repo in the past week, rotate your keys immediately as a precaution.
(Not just in Cursor or any other place where you use Grok.. the CLI only)

@rezoundous I spent minutes discussing this with myself, but it wasn't about $500, it was $400, or $300.
