@sama "Compression" in long chats within chatgpt chats. It becomes worthless when the chat/ context gets long and it's frustrating having to start a fresh rather than continue in the current chat. I run into this when I try to have it iterate VBA code.

@mark_k @xai For the majority of people, including myself, image models are just a fun toy. I'm just excited about more and more intelligent models.

My biggest wish for @xai (SpaceXAI) right now is simple: Please build a powerful new image model that can genuinely compete with Nano Banana 2 and GPT-Image-2. Grok Imagine is already fun and creative, but xAI needs a real flagship image model next. 🙏

@gabriel1 I just do not see that happening in an open concept or cube heavy environment (outside of an AI lab). If everyone wore noise canceling headsets all day maybe it could work but at that point the office just becomes a call center dead.

@tszzl @apples_jimmy I've been working on an extremely complicated engineering (not computer/software) use case for the past few versions. I got pretty close with 5.4, but one fix would cause another problem. I'm hopeful 5.5 will get it to the finish line.

there are early signs of 5.5 being a competent ai research partner. several researchers let 5.5 run variations of experiments overnight given only a high level algorithmic idea, wake up to find completed sweep dashboards and samples, never having touched code or a terminal at all
