This is a story from personal experience about the need for single-sex exemptions under law for certain spaces, and why Self-ID trans ideology can be problematic. It’s about ‘Colin’, a 16 year old boy, my 15yo daughter J, and the girls’ changing room at their school. THREAD. 1/18

@NAllison89 This this this. And I’m not even thinking (only) of the recent media example. It applies amongst parents of those with varying disabilities too.

I have talked over the years about working with people with disabilities. All issues pale in comparison to conditions like cerebral palsy. I see games of the oppression Olympics but remember when you play that game I have clients who cant join in because they cannot even speak.

@grace_hawthorn Plus from a professional standpoint, he’s ones of the film’s executive producers. Even if it wasn’t about him, as an exec producer he would of course normally be invited.

I’m sorry, but I need to say this: The abuse, & downright bullying of a man with a condition he cannot help, has gotten to me on a couple of levels.

@autisticwitter @BradfemlyWalsh No because I’m aware of Tourette’s and I’m also aware of the actors who never received an apology at least from the organization that aired the Tics for controversy

I have a child - 21 today! - with Tourette’s. Fortunately their symptoms are usually v mild & infrequent. There was a time though yrs ago when meds unexpectedly made their symptoms v bad. One tic was swearing, incl to teachers. I’ve found this past week upsetting. Love to JD.

@SeeRedWoman1 @Variety I hope, Variety, that you made a donation to a Tourette’s charity for this interview? No mention of that in the piece though.

@Variety Variety. You’re getting a lot of mileage out of a man’s disability. Smells like exploitation.

John Davidson’s team says he has reached out to the studio behind #Sinners to apologize directly to Michael B. Jordan, Delroy Lindo and production designer Hannah Beachler after shouting the N-word during their BAFTAs presentation. • “The real challenge isn’t the tics themselves, but the misconceptions surrounding them,” he told Variety in his first interview since Sunday’s ceremony. • Davidson said his condition has previously put him in danger, recalling one incident in which he was beaten “to within an inch of my life with an iron bar” after a tic directed at a young woman led to a physical altercation with her boyfriend. • “Understanding the full range of Tourette’s helps reduce stigma and supports everyone living with the condition,” he added. wp.me/pc8uak-1lGWQa

@Raycizmm @BradfemlyWalsh Yes and not to diminish that, it’s also important to bear in mind that John Davidson was nearly killed (beaten v badly) because of his disability, and many disabled people have historically been directly or indirectly killed for being disabled.

@tafkamichael @Scot_Feminists @USSR2Europe @nhsfife Tbf (not that he deserves it) I sincerely doubt it was that specifically. Him staying there was untenable for him & NHS Fife. I strongly suspect he was encouraged to leave & received a settlement payout. Nowhere else in NHS would want him due to reputational risk.

Dr Upton has left the building. And the NHS. Possibly the country. Wonder if @nhsfife feels he was worth the £400k, reputational damage and loss of faith from female employees and patients. #Echobox=1771108349" target="_blank" rel="nofollow noopener">thescottishsun.co.uk/news/15925555/…

@iseult @DuncanHenry78 @D24Journalist And as this young man has learnt (but probably hasn’t accepted …) you can control the speech of someone else to a certain extent, but you can’t control their thoughts or understanding of what a man and a woman are.

@iseult @DuncanHenry78 @D24Journalist The difference though (& I know you get this) is that the trans-IDing person wants others to share their delusion/rhetoric. A non-trans person mistaken for other sex is secure in the reality of their sex. Physical facts are tangible proof. An idea or feeling in one’s head is not.

@sauron3eye @ThePosieParker It would be great if a *women’s* rights campaigner - any of them - could post about a female issue without someone popping up to scold them for not talking about boys/men. Also, apart from the fact that KJK has (and I’m anti circumcision myself), FGM is physically much worse.

A paedophile who sexually assaulted a 12-year-old boy at a school in North London has avoided prison - the police officer who built the case against him was so gobsmacked he is considering leaving his job Jordan Cave, 28, a former IT technician at top grammar school The Latymer School, in Edmonton, avoided jail despite being found in possession of thousands of horrific child abuse images, along with a video of the vile attack on a 12-year-old. Recorder Syed said Cave’s immaturity, autism and ADHD diagnosis; his lack of offending since the sex attack; and the views of the probation service and a psychologist were the key reasons for suspending his two-year sentence for two years. “This is not a lenient sentence. It’s a deliberately onerous, hard package, having read many expert reports, that will punish you and protect the public, dealing with the root cause of your offending. If there’s any breach of this sentence in any way, the only place you are going to is prison… I’m giving you an opportunity to make amends.” At Snaresbrook this week, the court heard how Cave sexually abused the boy over his clothes at the school, storing a video of the attack, which included groping and licking, in a file on his computer named ‘Latymer’. Other files were named after boys, though the court did not hear evidence of any connection between the files and other pupils at the school. Cave will be under supervision for 12 months and must sign onto the sex offenders' register.

@ClaireCNWL I've been on a PICU since November 2024. There have been multiple periods where i have been ready to step down or move to a more suitable long term care provision. Instead they hold onto me for too long, and i inevitably relapse due to inappropriate and untheraputic care.

@BradfemlyWalsh one of the things i wish for so hard is that young women can see themselves from the perspective of themselves in middle-age. we were so so gorgeous, all of us, and none of us could see it. we were *stunning* & we had no idea.

@grace_hawthorn @stfnigg How can you ask that Grace 😲 So what if is body wasn’t impacted on by the birth process in any way. So what if, unlike his baby, he was not suddenly thrust into the external world after being cocooned internally for months. ‘Him’ matters too. Dismiss ‘him’ at your peril.

It's funny how after the birth of a baby, announcers declare that "mother and baby are doing fine". What about the father??

@STILLTish Bloody hell. That is devastating to read. And I “know what I am talking about” because someone very, very close to me grew up in care. Although of course someone doesn’t need any direct or indirect experience to understand that is blatantly untrue and a dangerous belief.

A teenage girl was murdered in a protest in Iran, a country where women have been historically oppressed and are still severely deprived of rights. She also happened to be a champion swimmer. Therefore, women in the rest of the world are not allowed to fight for fairness in their own sports, and no other women on earth are actually threated by male transvestites, not even those who have been raped, murdered, and dismembered by them. This is your brain on misogyny.
