@AstroBackyard You should definitely add Sky Guide to your list, it's by far the best astronomy app I have ever used.

My Must-Have Astronomy Apps 🧐
I have about 15 stargazing apps on my phone (seriously), but I only use about 3 of them daily.
It should come as no surprise that the ones I look at most are for checking the forecast (it's a love/hate relationship)
1. Stellarium
2. Astrospheric
3. Clear Outside
I've rounded up the 20 best astronomy apps for your mobile phone - from aurora alerts to checking when the next ISS pass is.
I bet you'll find a good one you don't have yet: astrobackyard.com/astronomy-apps…
Did I miss a good one? Let me know!

The Horsehead and Flame Nebulas 🔥📸
I tracked this dramatic area in 'Orion's Belt' for nearly 8 hours to capture the light for this photo.
This image includes 2 of the absolute best deep-sky objects in the sky: The Horsehead Nebula and the Flame Nebula.
See that bright star at the top of the flame? That's Alnitak - one of the 3 belt stars in Orion.
Believe it or not, images like this are possible using a compact telescope from the city (my backyard is a Bortle 6!)
For a deep-dive on the telescopes I use for photos like this (including this one), check out my updated guide: astrobackyard.com/best-astrophot…

One funny question we get at the observatory a lot is whether or not we are going to randomly increase prices on everyone.
It’s funny because this is the total opposite of what will happen. The core mission of starfront is to improve access to dark skies, and so the cost for you will only ever go down.
This post is really to announce that we are cutting the cost of our heavy tier size from $799/mo to $399/mo. Sticking to the mission of making dark skies accessible to everyone!

@r3a9an_k_ @DrVooDoo13 If I forget to turn on the shielding gas when TIG welding stainless steel, this orange color appears over the entire workpiece. I think it results from severe oxidation of the stainless steel.

@r3a9an_k_ This orange color comes from severe oxidation of (stainless) steel.

The Veil Nebula 📸
The western portion of the Veil Nebula is my absolute favorite, with that iconic star glaring at the center of the 'witches broom'.
I captured this stunning supernova remnant in just 1 night from the backyard using the new Apertura CarbonStar 200.
While I am usually a refractor guy, this astrophotography-first reflector is super easy to set up and can handle my 2600 (APS-C) camera sensor.
I used a color camera and a dual-bandpass filter to isolate the intense gases of this deep-sky object (mainly hydrogen and oxygen).
I hope the Western Veil Nebula is on your 'must-shoot' list this summer.

@Erdayastronaut Instead of pushing the rocket, the arms could be used to fuel the rocket a little bit longer. A flexible hose for cryogenic propellants is needed.
English

@Erdayastronaut I think it would be easier to build a higher launch pad and launch it from there.

M8 - The Lagoon Nebula (below) is a giant H II region in the constellation Sagittarius at 4,000-6,000 light years.
M20 - The Trifid Nebula is a combination of an open cluster, emission, reflection and a dark nebula that divide into three lobes. +ALT text
