Joby Weeks was one of the earliest Bitcoin era figures. He was a miner, global crypto advisor, and libertarian who pushed $BTC when almost nobody understood it. We need to respect his hustle he traveled to 175+ countries, built real mining infrastructure (brokering $75M+ in hardware, helping create one of the world’s largest BTC mines), and brought millions of eyes to crypto long before it went mainstream. In 2019, he was arrested in connection with the BitClub Network case. The government called it a $722M crypto mining fraud. Joby’s side argues the story leaves out major context including that funds were available for payouts before seizures. He pleaded guilty in 2020 to conspiracy to offer/sell unregistered securities and tax evasion. He spent 11 months in custody, then over 6 years on strict house arrest (ankle monitor, limited everything). Sentencing remains unresolved. This is bigger than one case.
