@niubi Porsche should really out innovate, but can’t because of conflicts of interest, so their only option would be to sue.

Col. Lawrence Wilkerson (ret.), Colin Powell’s chief of staff, in 2007: "The Israelis were telling us Iraq is not the enemy — Iran is the enemy… They [Israel] were saying, 'You can manage Iraq. Why are you going to go in and change this? It’s going to destabilize the region.'" Flynt Leverett, senior director for Middle East affairs on the National Security Council: "Israeli intelligence and political leaders told us repeatedly: 'Don’t do Iraq. Iran is the problem.' They were right." Paul Pillar, CIA National Intelligence Officer for the Middle East: "Israeli officials consistently warned that invading Iraq would be a strategic mistake and that Iran was the real long-term threat. This was conveyed both through intelligence channels and diplomatic backchannels." commondreams.org/news/2007/08/2…

After much reflection, I have decided to resign from my position as Director of the National Counterterrorism Center, effective today. I cannot in good conscience support the ongoing war in Iran. Iran posed no imminent threat to our nation, and it is clear that we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby. It has been an honor serving under @POTUS and @DNIGabbard and leading the professionals at NCTC. May God bless America.

Here's some back of the napkin math for Tesla's Digital Optimus Units which they say will be deployed across their 7GWs of power at Supercharger sites... and some implications. Tesla has 7GW of power across their Superchargers network, operating at about 30% utilization. The other 70% of the time, that power is sitting unused. A 16-port site with two 1MW V4 cabinets has 2MW of power. That leaves 1.4 MW of spare power for a Digital Optimus unit, which I suspect will draw about half that much power. I suspect Tesla's Digital Optimus units will be deployed in a similar form factor as their Megapacks, which are basically shipping containers filled with batteries. But instead of batteries, they will be filled with racks of AI chips. This is what's known as a Mobile Data Center (MDC), which can fit around 7 Nvidia VL72 racks, each costing around $3M. That's around a $21M per MDC unit. Each rack pulls 120kW of power, so 7 would pull 840 kW, about half of the spare power that would be available at a 16-port V4 site. These MDC's will perform AI inference, which is when AI is answering questions or performing autonomous tasks (like agents). This is not to be confused with AI training, which is when AI is reading the internet to learn and develop it's model. Today, AI inference is leased at around $3/GPU hour. A 7 rack NVL72 MDC would have 504 GPUs (7*72) and 12,906 GPU hours per day (504*24), which would generate $13,245,120 in revenue/year at today's prices. AI training data centers can be centralized anywhere, but it's best for inference to be distributed because it provides lower latency (sub-10ms latency vs 50-100ms), thus delivers faster responses. Tesla's supercharger network is a perfect fit for the power needed to scale AI inference. Some implications: 1. By optimizing the utilization of their asset (power allocation) this vastly improves the economics of supercharger sites, increasing the incentive to deploy them and potentially reducing the cost of charging because profits can be generated from inference. 2. The size of supercharger installations is no longer constrained to vehicle demand, but rather vehicle demand, plus inference demand. Some additional thoughts: 1. If Tesla was thinking about this years ago, it could explain why in many locations, they have massively overbuilt - because they know that power allocation would some day become useful 2. This could also explain why Tesla has been reluctant to install battery storage at sites, with the exception of ones where there were large government incentives - because they knew these sites would have near 100% power utilization, so there would be no down time in which to fill the batteries.

.@TeslaCharging teams will be helping to get Digital Optimus units energized. Especially at long-distance Superchargers, we have large interconnections built for dependable travel on peak days, but sit mostly idle outside of holidays. We’re going to need a lot of compute and make efficient use of the grid through distributed compute.
