XelerateVR unveiled the ODT 1, an omnidirectional treadmill for full-body VR. You can walk, run, and turn in any direction with near-zero latency. @XelerateVR uses ball bearings for realism, rubber soles for quiet, and supports any game with joystick input.

A lot of exciting new consumer product launches recently. Some of my favorites are from Hyve, Nothing, XelerateVR and Nitetronic. Check out the latest drops:

@NimaZeighami Glad to hear that you enjoyed it! And don't worry, we already got the solution for better walking coming with the next prototype. Stay tuned! 😎

The most surprising demo I had at AWE was Xelerate VR. This is the best omnidirectional treadmill I’ve ever used, by a mile. Best jumping experience. Best jogging experience. Best running experience. But walking feels bad! Maybe they can fix it one day.

@gingasvr @XelerateVR Clever design, wonder why no one came with this idea earlier? Makes totally sense when you think about it. This is perhaps the only solution to escape this feeling of sliding with such treadmills.

Hands down the best consumer vr treadmill I’ve tried, and I’ve been very skeptical of them in the past. This is the first one where I could genuinely see myself using this EVERY time I play VR. I didn’t have to relearn how to walk, or lean forward, I could full on sprint and jump, and the tracking was extremely accurate because it’s using streamvr feel trackers. And apparently any flat foot shoes should work with these. #vr #quest3 #gaming

There's a cover on the balls that prevents dust from entering. We also tested a prototype without any cover at all for multiple years, to see if dust accumulation has any noticeable difference on the walking experience. Turned out that it doesn't, as the force you put on the balls is way too strong for the dust to have any break effect. There are also smaller balls beneath the metal balls, and the dust doesn't stay in between the tiny contact points.

@jBahrVR @XelerateVR I love the concept, but I'm extremely curious how they deal with dust and shoe rubber debris and lint in the rotational channel. Also wear. Trackball mice have to be cleaned constantly.

@XelerateVR can we hear you walking on it with no music?

@GCZawurdo The tolerances are so tight that nothing big enough to jam the balls can get below the balls. And there's no maintenance needed, but using a feather duster every other month can't hurt.

@XelerateVR I think this is marvelous but I do have a concern If something small falls into the base i.e. a shirt button, coin, toothpick etc, will the walking area be jammed? Is the user able to clean and maintain the threadmill themselves?

@XelerateVR Looks great! We'd love to feature it! Definitely looks way more appealing than most other VR treadmills with that extra friction.

To keep it short and simple, the movement sensation is much better because our surface is made out of thousands of specially mounted balls - and maybe even more importantly, we are transmitting the users movements to VR with the maximum accuracy that is physically possible. This makes a huge difference for immersion and actually solves the motion sickness problem 😎

@XelerateVR Looks nice! But what makes it better? Reminds me of that Disney treadmill that went viral last year. Does it have some kind of tech like that? Rollers or something?

@InnerBushido We have developed a much better treadmill than the Virtuix Omni and it's currently working with all headsets that are PCVR compatible. Direct compatibility with Quest, Pico and PSVR is coming as well. Check it out on our website: xeleratevr.com
