@prodnose Neoliberalism wants 2 parties fighting for the same thing
It wants neolib gung-ho Toryism to alternate with neolib-serving Labour 'moderatism'
it gives semblance of democracy (an illusion)
When in reality its a 1 party state constructed by & for the elite

The neoliberal movement is probably the least understood and the most important-to-understand movement in the last century precisely because people believe so much of its BS without even knowing what it is and was - and how they came to believe this bullshit in the first place

@lucasaganronald What is it with these thugs?? Utter disgrace

Mathieu van der Poel:
“These are people who shouldn’t come and watch the race. I can’t do anything about it. Does it seem to be becoming a recurring thing? Unfortunately, yes…” #E3SaxoClassic

@NordBob @lucasaganronald I have to wonder then, why bother creating a chasing break? None of them may have defeated VdP anyway when having caught him, but why do all those hard yards to sit up on the Flamme Rouge?
English

@lucasaganronald The urge to not help someone else win must be stronger than urge to go for win.

Absolutely crazy finish…
That group of four are pulling, cutting the gap from a full minute down to just 2–3 seconds behind MVDP with 1 km to go and instead of finishing him off, they just look at each other… I just don’t understand it. #E3SaxoClassic

@DTM1878 @Benjwinst Wasn't it the third party ownership of his contract that was the issue?
English

@Benjwinst He was a memorable one. His head turned but a few boss highlights in such a small tkme frame he w9uld of been outstanding for us, and adored. Quality, exuberant strength snd an eye for the goal

@lucasaganronald I think he allowed Seixas to be second but I wonder how much was him scoping Seixas out for future GC tilts when he's the main man and Pogacar isn't racing? Losing a battle (for second) to prepare to win a GC war, as it were?
English

6. Was it a gentleman's agreement from Del Toro to Seixas at the end? 🤔
How Del Toro looked at the final Santa Catarina climb was a little bit strange to me. He was not even trying to beat Seixas in a battle for second place. Did he decide to let him take second place because he was just following his back wheel for the whole race? We might never know. But Del Toro definitely didn’t look the same compared to the Giro stage where he was battling with Wout.

THREAD
My takeaways from a superb Strade Bianche day 🫶🏻
1. One big problem 🤭
There is one serious problem for the future… Paul Seixas. Not for us cycling fans, not for cycling in general, but for Pogačar and mainly UAE. Do you know how many headaches they will have in the UAE because of him in the future? And that future might not be that far away as it seems.
Sorry, but almost following Pogačar at his perfectly suited race, being his biggest problem, and still not blowing up and coming second at 19 years of age? Absolutely insane.
But this is what cycling needs. Another alien, finally a proper rival for Pogačar. And that he is from the biggest cycling country in the world is a big bonus. Nothing against Vingegaard or Remco, but they are not a real competition now for Pogi at GrandTours or hilly monuments. Cycling needs a real rival for Pogi. Can’t wait for those Pogačar - Seixas battles in the future.

@lucasaganronald I used to be very much a 'leave Monuments as they are' mentality.
But now we are in 21st Century, and how big Strade Bianche has become, I believe this deserves Monument status (and it's moniker to be Strade Bianche: The Modern Monument?).
I'm all for it being added.
English

4. Strade Bianche is growing every year 📈
In both popularity and prestige. There are more and more fans along the route, and riders are increasingly talking about it as one of the biggest targets of the whole season, despite it not even being a monument. But is it already bigger than for example Italian monument Il Lombardia? I would say definitely yes.

@lucasaganronald Would Ineos or Visma be far better for Seixas?
I do think Ineos aren't what they were and maybe should be focusing on stage wins. But if they wanted a GC candidate....this guy is the future.
But even then, it's for the White Jersey at TdF. The Yellow is Pogacar's.
English

2. What does it mean that the UAE offered a contract for Seixas? 📝
I will stay in Seixas topic. Yesterday, we discovered that the UAE is trying to sign Paul Seixas from 2028 as he has a contract with Decathlon until the end of 2027. Which he still signed as a neo-pro, so currently he is not earning that much. And the UAE is trying to take advantage of it.
But how realisticly I see it? Without a single chance. Both big companies Decathlon and CMA CGM can also offer him a big money and a good team around him… and mainly freedom and the absolute number one title. And there is no chance they will miss on this home miracle, because they know every penny they invest in him can come back. So from my point of view, it does mean nothing.

If @ospreys are to receive the cull from @wru, how about they have the chance to join an expanded @premrugby??
I'd happily have them join and add some Celtic spice.

Saturdays used to be untouchable.
You’d kick things off with Soccer AM in the morning — pure chaos, big laughs, and cult icons like Rocket, Tubes, and the legendary Helen and Tim. It never took itself too seriously, and that was exactly the point.
Then came Soccer Saturday in the afternoon. Jeff Stelling steering the ship, flanked by proper characters. No goal slipped through the cracks, and nobody delivered a last-minute equaliser quite like Chris Kamara.
And the perfect finale? Match of the Day. That theme tune kicked in and you knew you were settling down for an hour of Premier League brilliance, with Lineker, Hansen, and Shearer dissecting the action.
Morning to night — football had it covered.
No subscriptions. No gimmicks. Just proper telly.
What a time to be a football fan.

@SixNationsRugby @TalkRugbyUnion
I've been critical of Italy and their arguably weakening the Six Nations for many years but this year, what a team they've been and what a revelation.
Should be defeating Ireland, deserved their win v Scotland, should beat Wales....huge credit

@steven_mi11s @xMaccaEFC Fellaini hitting the bar before half time when 1-0 up v Chelsea in FA Cup Final and Distin's last minute penalty and red card v Lisbon when we battered them but just 2-0 up....
Biggest potential chances to win cups in the last 30 years.
English

@xMaccaEFC Manager bottled the away leg
Instead of going for an away goal at 0-1 we conceded again
Also could have won the FA cup in 2012 and 2013 but he bottled them as well
And then we got him back……..

Our pathetic trophy drought should have been ended by that team/squad, it was more than good enough to have won something, that 2008 Uefa Cup was a massive missed opportunity an still annoys me

@jim_keoghan A Harry Maguire own goal winner ruled out for offside while ignoring the foul on the player 'impeding GKs view' in the penalty area in the build up!
I won't ever let that one slide from Kavanagh.

@xMaccaEFC I remember Fellaini getting booked against Carlisle Utd in a FA Cup game for sliding on a wet pitch, winning the ball with a slide tackle but catching their player while still sliding due to the greasy pitch.
Ridiculous decision.
