🚨Byron Donalds wants a pathway to citizenship for illegals: "Now let's take a look at the people who are here illegally.. I think the American people, we are a beneficent people.. we would put them on a pathway to citizenship." NO WAY!

Having a falling out with family members over moral issues disguised as politics is an epidemic in the US right now. It's very similar to the divisions seen in families during the Civil War. There is one common theme, and it's discussed in this video: MAGA Cult Members (and this is a central theme to Cults) care more about what those in the Cult (what they often refer to as their community) than even their closest friend or relative. Even their own children. This can be devastating to the non-MAGAs effected, but surprisingly reassuring to those in MAGA, which only deepens the divisions and the pain. Tribalism is a powerful influencer on behavior.

Yes, Muslims didn't support overthrowing an election result in 2020. Unlike Republicans, they believe in birthright citizenship — one of the foundations of what makes America great. And they're more opposed to political violence than the overall public, according to Pew.
Dan@dg_chicago

@shadihamid Republican Christians and Muslims are nothing alike. This is insane.

Shadi Hamid, who I first read well over a decade ago, and who I think is an honest commentator, really helped me to come to the conclusion that, broadly speaking - and with exceptions, obviously - Islam does not belong in the West and will never be able to settle within it.
Shadi Hamid@shadihamid

Practicing Muslims — despite being repeatedly asked to — can’t disavow “sharia” even if they wanted to. The sharia includes guidelines on how to pray, fast and otherwise observe what it means to submit to God in daily practice. washingtonpost.com/opinions/2026/…

I think you are being naive or just willfully ignorant. It’s as the other poster said a numbers issue. My town went from a few percent of south asians to now over 40%. There is no assimilation. My town is not unique. And once open minded Americans are now resentful especially when practices from the “motherland” are carried over that are NOT American. Aka I as a white woman have always aimed to hire the best possible candidates ignoring age, gender, creed, ethnicity - and then you see wholesale an Indian leader hire solely from his caste/region etc. people are not blind. I do feel sympathy for people like you - you will unfortunately be caught in the fray and the continued resentment building.

No sweetheart - your fat Wilford Brimley ass is the problem. People recognizing that their communities are overrun by a third world culture that is essentially antithetical to the values of this country are not playing victims. The good natured aspect of this country to be open minded has been weaponized against them - and people have had enough.

There is nothing soft against standing up to racist populism. Silence is softness. It’s easy to be a bitch. It’s easy to play a victim. My comments are full of them.

I look forward to a future in which Shadi Hamid will not have to prove he belongs in America. Interpret that how you will.

we demand assimilation because that is the only way to justify immigration. no culture would welcome millions of migrants determined — openly — to change their country. we will soon hear arguments in favor of total immigration moratoriums, and men like this will be responsible.
Shadi Hamid@shadihamid

Should a minority community's right to be in America depend on their willingness to converge with the cultural mainstream? No, it shouldn't depend on that. It shouldn't depend on anything. We're all Americans, after all.

@Artemisfornow @MinsyMin22 In socialized medicine, you can’t have everything for free and countless care when you’re also have open borders and try to be a welfare state. The government has found a way to encourage people to get off of the cost sheet.

Oh humans, what are you doing?? This autistic young man between 16-18 years old was euthanised in Holland because he was joyless and terribly lonely. Poor, poor boy, instead of adults loving him and helping him, they chose to kill him instead.

Theodore Roosevelt > Shadi Hamid "We should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else… BUT, this is predicated upon the person's becoming in every facet an American, and nothing but an American. There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag. We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language. We have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."
