People are allowed to notice a pattern. It's really easy to just post "Not weird at all" and stay otherwise quiet though. So the appearance he is creating is that of a standard albeit closeted groyper, which sucks, he's an amazing fucking actor and his movies are great. He’s free to clarify it if people are misunderstanding him, or to continue the little wink-and-nod posts. Balls Up was great though.

You can absolutely dislike somebody personally. Nobody has to justify that. But when the person is publicly known almost entirely for political and social positions, and you go out of your way to publicly celebrate disliking them, it’s fair for people to ask what exactly you mean. There’s a difference between: “I think he’s annoying,” and “I disagree with his positions.” Those are two completely different statements. What feels strange is when someone clearly wants the social approval that comes from saying “I don’t like Ben Shapiro,” but then suddenly acts like it’s bizarre for anyone to ask why. If your issue is his politics, conservatism, Israel/Gaza positions, social views, whatever, then just say that. Stand on it. Otherwise it comes off like wanting credit for signaling disagreement but not wanting to actually defend or articulate the beliefs behind it. The comparison is not equivalent on a person vs. person basis (Ben is not MLK), but imagine someone saying: “I just don’t like Martin Luther King Jr.” People would naturally ask: “Okay… because you find him personally irritating? Or because you oppose the things he advocated for?” That’s a normal thing to ask about when the person is primarily known for advocacy and certain political positions.
