Been getting tons of pings about the @LineaBuild tokenomics unveil. finally got some time to review closely... I’m bullish. Airdrop 10% initial airdrop. 9% to LXP & onchain and 1% to devs. @declanfox19 clarified recently that LXP-L airdrop will be paid out of the massive ecosystem fund. This looks really good to me. At first, I thought it was 10% between all three cohorts which felt okay at best But the separation of LXP-L supply into the ecosystem fund is *chef’s kiss* Whoever managed to pull that off deserves a vacation This airdrop structuring says one thing: The community won. Furthermore, there is a mind-boggling 85% for future airdrops, incentive, grants, whatever. The winners will not be the LXP farmers, the winners will be the LXP farmers who became Lineans and who stayed on the chain long term. Funnily enough, a month or so ago I ripped out this crazy idea that sprung to me about doing a 40% airdrop to the community but having it LOCKED. The basic premise was do a HL size community incentive but keep sell pressure 0 on launch day x.com/bigironchris/s… The 85% ecosystem fund is more or less exactly the mechanic I proposed. Think about the 10% day 1 as an 11% day 1 vest of a community airdrop that will be vested over 10 years. Lol, lmao even When considering airdrops, it’s not just about the initial number. % of supply is a meme. Total supply is a meme. What matters is the liquidity structuring of the token launch. You could get 50% of a token with 10% liquid on exchanges and 40% controlled by VCs who unlock day 1. Guess what happens. Your supply is worthless. @Lineabuild is different. And the structuring of the tokenomics reveals that. This is something the @Consensys team cannot clearly spell out - but I, as a community participant and coin speculator, am free to help. Most (all) network projects have token stakeholders who include 1. Team 2. A foundation 3. VCs 4. An early community of devs, users, and liquidity providers 5. CEX fees And everyone needs to eat. But the project is contractually obligated to make the early capital funders and/or CEX eat first, and best. What we are witnessing with @Lineabuild is that the liquid supply at launch day will be much lower and solely concentrated into the hands of 1. The early community of devs, users, and liquidity providers 2. Some CEX (but minimal if they don’t do a nance listing) Many of these airdrop tokens will be sold, if market participants follow statistical means (think 80%+). If you think that’s a lot - yeah, kinda But it's also not much when you consider that most of the time there are VCs and a foundation trying to liquidate as many of their tokens as humanly possible in the first 48 hours of the token’s life New memecoin launches follow a similar life cycle to new altcoin launches - Launch - Initial speculative premium - Insider selloff - Community takeover (if it survives) This is a very long way of saying that the down-only price action which plagues most tokens simply does not exist for Linea. Any future unlocks will be publicized by a consortium of S tier names like @ensdomains so you’ll be able to predict inflation impact well in advance. We’ve talked about how the reduction in sell-pressure will increase the value of the community airdrop, irrespective of allocation percentage TO MAKE THINGS A LITTLE SPICIER… Everyone is sidelined on $LINEA. And what is Linea, exactly? There is Ethereum And then there are L2s. Base is the Coinbase L2. Linea is the Ethereum L2. It’s not ethereum aligned. It is Ethereum. There’s a market of people who want to hold the Ethereum L2 coin. And who has got bags of it? Only the early community. Everyone else? Sidelined. The sell pressure we talked about earlier (VCs are market buyers on a pre-listing market) Is converted into buy pressure. Anyone who would buy into the network has to buy into it on the open market. The world is sidelined on $LINEA and if you hold LXP or LXPL you are one of the few who have a stake in the network that is probably going to have billions of dollars of $ETH from Treasury company inflows. Yes, I’m bullish. Obviously, I have worked on every level of Linea. I am in most of the Telegram communities. I talked about Linea with @ethereumjoseph many times. Joe’s increased support for Linea in public is obvious. This guy has that dog in him. I would not bet against Joe or his desire to see Ethereum become the world’s financial layer. I’m proud of everything I put into @lineabuild when I was a paid @Consensys employee. And since I left, I’ve remained a Linean. Because I love the community and the builders and the Linea team. @declanfox14 and @ethereumjoseph have pulled off something radical here It will be studied Don’t fade joe And don’t fade the FOX
