There is not a single butcher in Gabs that has shut down because of the BMC selling meat! The simple reason is prohibitive transport costs & lack/limited supply from the available green zones. You cannot get stew from Nata & sell it for P55/kg in Gabs! This is simply an issue ya FMD & DVS restrictions. If I have time tomorrow, I will tackle the BMC pricing issue.

It charges a flat service fee instead of interest to avoid falling under the National Credit Act and includes rewards for timely repayment. The service aims to replace costly informal borrowing or power cut-offs for millions of prepaid households amid rising tariffs and energy insecurity. So the BMC in its pursuit for profitability decides to carry out an annual shutdown at dates which are peak delivery times for farmers. Just for everyone’s understanding, a farmer sells cattle at their best condition(fattest) towards the end of the rainy summer season. It would make more sense to carry out an annual shutdown when supply to the BMC is at its lowest post winter around Aug/Sep. Tota gatwe re loilwe ke mang🥹.
