Hello from Salisbury where Lord Robertson is making a significant intervention on UK defence - warning of “corrosive complacency” on defence by Sir Keir Starmer’s government and that the country is underprepared for war. He’s expected to push for less spending on welfare and more on warfare

NATO allies have refused to join Trump's Strait of Hormuz blockade. Britain and France both declined involvement. Macron is proposing a multinational mission to restore navigation instead. - Reuters

US Naval Blockade on Iran: 15 US warships are currently blockading Irans energy exports from 5 major ports. Iran generates 50 percent of its income from energy exports over 90 percent of which go to China. Chinese ships have been seen passing the strait of Hormuz earlier. Iran supplies up to 13 percent of all Chinas energy imports. Key ports are: -Kharg Island main oil export terminal -Bandar Abbas biggest commercial port -Chabahar strategic port outside Hormuz -Imam Khomeini Port petrochemicals -Lavan Island smaller oil terminal

U.S. Navy Strikes Back: Destroyers Clear Iranian Mines from Strait of Hormuz American warships just took decisive action against Iranian aggression. Moments ago, U.S. Central Command announced that the guided-missile destroyers USS Frank E. Peterson and USS Michael Murphy have transited the Strait of Hormuz and are now operating in the Arabian Gulf. Their mission: sweep out deadly sea mines planted by Iran's Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps and carve out a new safe shipping corridor for the free flow of commerce. "Today, we began the process of establishing a new passage and we will share this safe pathway with the maritime industry soon to encourage the free flow of commerce," declared Adm. Brad Cooper, CENTCOM commander. This is no minor patrol. The Strait of Hormuz is the jugular of global oil transport — one-fifth of the world's petroleum flows through it. For too long, the mullahs in Tehran have tried to choke it off with mines and threats, endangering the world economy and emboldening every rogue regime from Beijing to Moscow. Iran's mine-laying gamble is blowing up in their faces — literally. The U.S. is restoring order, securing energy supplies, and reminding the world that freedom of navigation isn't optional.
