Year 2 are continuing to explore and investigate microhabitats for our ‘A Bug’s Life’ theme. We found lots of critters around our school ! @fircroftSW17

Year 2 RHS Wisley gardens trip! What a wonderful time we had exploring the gardens, pond dipping, planting seeds and looking at micro habitats! There were some tired children on the journey home, but the children loved the whole day! @RHSWisley @fircroftSW17

What a fabulous day Year 2 had #LondonHistoryDay. We completed tube quizzes and challenges. We designed our own pictogram tube maps and designed our own tube station logos.

For ‘Outside Learning Day’, Year 2 were tallying the different coloured cars that drove down the street. We then went into the playground to make giant pictograms from that information.

In Year 2 maths, we have been using weighing scales to compare different mass.

In Yr2 @fircroftSW17 we have been examining plants for our new theme, How does your garden grow? We have also been looking at seeds and bulbs.

In art in Yr2 @fircroftSW17 we have been doing lots of collaborative art work. We have been using our whole bodies to draw spirals inspired by nature. We also drew huge connecting circle art work inspired by Molly Haslund.

World Book Day 2024! We had a visit from author Michael De Souza where we had lots of practise with poem and rhyme!

To kick off our new topic ‘Besides the Seaside’ we researched different explorers, there were lots of fascinating stories and interesting facts! @fircroftSW17

A big thanks to Rosie Revere for our invitation to visit Tower Bridge! The children learnt lots of new facts but also impressed the staff at the bridge with their knowledge and vocabulary! @fircroftSW17 @TowerBridge @RosieRevere

To get us thinking about bridges, Year 2 were challenged to get the toy cars across a paper bridge! We folded the paper to strengthen the bridge @fircroftSW17

Last half term in DT, Year 2 learnt to use a running stitch. Check out our amazing designs!

@Year2 had an excellent time exploring the #TowerofLondon. We learnt about what it was like to be a knight. We even saw the amazing Crown Jewels! @fircroftSW17

In light of our ‘Brilliant Buildings’ topic, Year 2 visited our local church to learn about the features and look at the beautiful architecture. We had a go on the organ and rang the church bell!

To round up our learning Year 2 had fun in the woods hunting for mini-beasts!

What a fantastic trip to Chelsea Physic Gardens! We looked at different plants and animals and thought about how they adapt to their habitat and made bug hotels. The highlight for most was pond dipping! @ChelsPhysicGdn
