Soil Crusting Alert! In a few mid April plantings this morning and depending on rainfall intensity some stand limiting crusts are out there. Mostly north of Hwy 20 in my travels but check your fields!. Get out and check your fields. I use the "give em the finger" method. If you can't get your pointy finger thru the surface easily corn and possibly soybeans will have a tough time pushing thru. If you find a significant crust, go out and run the rotary hoe in corn fields. In soybeans be sure you are not breaking off hypocotyls!! Many are saying will see if it rains tonight... IMHO go do it in case it doesn't. Grandpa always said never trust a weatherman!!

@MikeLemon64 Yeah. More bushels lost out of fear of chilling injury than chilling injury has ever taken. Better in the ground than in the bag yet. Corn does look GREAT!👍
