Alternative opinion: "Boomers" were a complex mix of people, and the best of them were/are the best people I've known in my lifetime. Those ones brought us the counter-culture movement of the 1960's, civil rights advancements, fought the war machine, and produced the best music.

@LuizaJarovsky The solution isn't more bans, more lawsuits more restrictions. That path flattens the wisdom growth curve. What's needed is a genuine and honest effort to prepare and continually update peoples' ability to navigate a modern world without harming themselves.

I'm concerned about this verdict and the overall trend of treating speech platforms as addictive — and therefore dangerous — products. Also, the verdict diminishes the responsibility parents have to raise healthy kids. For example: "Kaley says she began using YouTube at age 6 and Instagram at age 9 and told the jury she was on social media 'all day long' as a child." Where were the parents?

Sorry to be so blunt, but when you lose an argument online the "someday they'll prove me right, you'll see" approach is one option, but the "oh man maybe I should look into this more" is the honest one. Anti-porn people have tried to "prove" it for as long as I've been alive, haven't done it yet.

“Peer reviewed” isn’t magic. Your first link is a primer/review, and your second is about porn consumption and cognitive-affective distress. Neither one settles the nosology question. The current mainstream position is still: compulsive/problematic sexual behavior can be real, but ICD-11 classifies CSBD as an impulse-control disorder, not an addiction, and “porn addiction” is not a DSM diagnosis.

@NahSargon @JulietteBryant @OnlyFans Porn "addiction" isn't a thing; not in the same sense as hard drugs, for example. Some people can act compulsively, i.e. dopamine hits, etc, but the same can be said about shopping, or eating chocolate, or watching football. Should we ban those things too?

You’d be surprised to learn not all OF creators are created equally. I’m personally disgusted with a lot of things I see in this industry. There’s levels to this stuff. Some of us are just retired hockey moms posting naked pics & videos with their husband (of 24yrs) on there, otherwise living a normal life. 🤷‍♀️ I wouldn’t consider myself a pornstar by any means. We all have our limits. I’ve never catered to anyone else’s demands or felt the need to push my limits for more money. I’m very proud of that. But I’m also a grown woman who had principles and a strong educational background before going into this. This was a choice for me, not a need. I had a career, I lived the traditional way for many years. I can see the concern for the young women who don’t have this mindset, but that’s with anything in life, not just OF.
