I've made special exceptions in my career when it comes to other people getting involved with the songwriting. Just a few, though. As a principle, I will not let that happen unless it's for a very specific purpose. I want full control of my music. To be an artist is to write your own songs and then perform them. If all of your songs are composed and written by someone else, you're not an artist in my eyes. Just a performer. You can still be extremely good as a performer. And all respect to that part. But you're not an artist. Therefore, I regret letting other people mess around with my creativity in the past. It's just not me. Note to self.
