Eid, the end of Ramadan, is also a day to honour the fallen. People and fighters visit the cemetery of the martyrs.

Good news for Eid and Newroz: as part of the prisoner exchange, eight YPJ fighters have also been released.

Newroz is a celebration of spring, renewal, fire and resistance. It is the story of the blacksmith Kawa’s struggle against the oppressors. It is the story of a rebellion against tyranny. And just as the flame marked victory, so too will the flame of the YPJ never be extinguished.

To Our People and Public Opinion On the occasion of the arrival of the spring of peoples, we extend our greetings on Newroz, the symbol of rebirth and revolution, as well as on the blessed month of Ramadan—especially to Leader Abdullah Öcalan, the families of the martyrs, and our resilient people. History bears witness that Newroz is not merely a celebration of the coming of spring, but a revolution against the oppression of Dehak. Just as Kawa the Blacksmith dispelled the darkness of his time with the spark of Newroz, heralding a new dawn for humanity, today we, the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ), continue our tireless struggle to defend the legacy of resistance against the mentality of modern-day Dehaks in the twenty-first century. Our struggle has now evolved into a global movement. This resistance against patriarchal systems and oppressive mentalities has become a source of hope for women around the world. The flame once lit atop the mountains now burns within the heart of every woman—the flame of “Woman, Life, Freedom”—emerging as a symbol of liberation in women’s lives and existence. In safeguarding this will, we see the protection of human dignity as a whole. At the same time, we extend our congratulations to all members of our people on the occasion of Eid al-Fitr. Eid al-Fitr represents the triumph of will, the purity of the spirit, and the reinforcement of social ethics. These blessed days offer a vital opportunity to strengthen the values of justice, equality, and solidarity within society. What distinguishes our revolution most is the unity of all beliefs, cultures, and identities under the umbrella of freedom and democracy. We will spread the flame of freedom—ignited by the blood of our martyrs—across the world. YPJ: Dissolved? Or joining Syria’s new army? Spokesperson Roxana Muhammad says the Women’s Protection Units are in talks with Damascus about joining the new Syrian army. They aren't looking to disappear. Instead, they want to change how the military works from the inside. Muhammad argues that without women, the army stays stuck in a cycle of theft and violence. For a real transformation in Syria, she says women’s self-defense must be part of the system.

Statement to the Public and Our People In recent days, and within the framework of psychological warfare and disinformation campaigns, false reports and malicious allegations have been circulated on social media regarding the killing of an individual named Alaa al-Din al-Amin. These attacks directly target our social system and the achievements of the revolution. We officially declare that our units and members have no connection whatsoever to this incident. The accusations directed at our military forces are baseless and represent deliberate attempts to undermine trust between the people and our forces. The targeting of our commander, Destina Kobani, constitutes an attack on the will of women and the dignity of resistance. We affirm that our comrade has absolutely no involvement in this incident. We call on our society to remain vigilant in the face of such attempts aimed at spreading chaos through provocation. The purpose of these reports is to destabilize the region. With sadness we received the news, that Salih Muslim, a politician, patriot and defender of his people's rights has passed away. In the face of women’s quest for freedom, he demonstrated his respect for life through his steadfastness and became a true comrade of women. 1/2

"In her way of life, Hêzil Arjîn was extremely natural and humble." She was martyred on January 21 while confronting armed groups in Raqqa.We affirm that we will continue walking in the footsteps of our martyrs.Yesterday, she and six other fighters were laid to rest in Qamishlo.

YPJ commemorated 8 March with a military ceremony and a visit to the cemetery of the martyrs. During the commemoration YPJ Commander Sarya Afrin made clear that success is only possible through unity and strength.

On International Women’s Day, we salute the strength and resistance of women everywhere. As members of the Women’s Protection Units, we reaffirm that women’s freedom and leadership are essential for building peace and a just society. 1,070 prisoners, including civilians and military personnel, are being held in Syrian prisons, Mazloum Abdi stressed, that this issue was a top priority in terms of follow-up and action to be taken and that there could be no compromise under any circumstances.

During this meeting Mazloum Abdi emphasised that the issue of prisoners and missing persons in the recent fighting is of central importance to the integration process under the agreement of 29 January. 2/3
