So @HQ_IDS_India has deleted the tweet putting out the “documentary”. Safe to say it will no longer see the light of day. But an investigation is needed nevertheless

Hope this was not a signal for a deliberate and broader shift on Pak, as it went beyond simply stating that India should not entirely shut the window on engagement—which is fine. If not, then we only end up entrenching the old Pak Army view: escalate to bring India to the table.

Blessings from RSS for "backchannel" dialogues with Pakistan. @PTI_News Make no mistake, Hosbale speaks for Mohan Ji Bhagawat. So, "Aman ki Asha" now has support from Nagpur? What a pity. What compulsion does RSS have to support this foolish idea of track 2? @VatsRishap
Sreejith Sasidharan@Sreezith

@VatsRishap This is NSA Doval's SOP-being vague deliberately for plausible deniability. The aim is two-fold. First, to minimize RSS/RW pressure in talking to Pak & second, to communicate strategically that it's happening anyway. Time for him to be shown the door. x.com/Sreezith/statu…

Press reports fed by unnamed sources are appearing in our media about Track 2 talks being held between retired Indian generals and diplomats and their Pakistani counterparts in third countries . Lobbies, international and local, seem to be promoting such meetings and the idea of giving them publicity is to mobilise opinion in India in favour of resumption of a back channel dialogue between India and Pakistan. It is argued that these unofficial talks are filling up the vacuum created by the absence of an official level dialogue. Those behind these planted reports make the familiar arguments in favour of re- establishing channels of communication with Pakistan at some level so that trends in thinking can be assessed and potential misjudgments avoided. These Track 2 participants think they are serving a useful cause at a time when the US is rehabilitating Pakistan, Asim Munir has wormed his way into Trump’s favour, the war on terror has lost international resonance and our campaign to isolate Pakistan has failed. These re-surfacing lobbies think we should abandon the core of our policy towards Pakistan even without any signal of change in Pakistan’s core attitude towards India. They want us to become defensive because of improved US- Pakistan ties and ourselves open the doors to a dialogue with Pakistan to pre- empt US pressure. The usual defeatist attitude cloaked in pragmatic diplomacy. The idea is to dilute the message of Op Sindoor to Pakistan.

Sorry to say this @ManojNaravane is running with the hares and hunting with the hounds. He is, of course, entitled to his views as a citizen - then he should come out and join politics like @Gen_VKSingh rather than throw salvos from the sidelines for news bytes: Disappointed.

STORY | Ex-army chief Naravane backs RSS leader's remarks on dialogue with Pakistan Former army chief Gen (retd) Manoj Naravane supported RSS leader Dattatreya Hosabale's stand on the desirability of willingness to have a dialogue with Pakistan, stating that friendship between the two peoples can lead to better bilateral relations. Can't believe we are back to square one! @narendramodi Govt's decisive and bold stance towards terror state Pakistan was a great departure from UPA era cowardice. Now all of a sudden we are here pretending to forget everything and starting to play the bugle of "Aman ka Tamasha". Really disheartening!

Ducked a fair and important question on the Finance minister skipping the NDB meeting in Russia. What’s the point of these pressers, if you refuse to even respond to basic questions such as these?
Shashank Mattoo@MattooShashank

Journalist: Any reason why India's Finance Minister has cancelled her visit to Russia? Will we stop buying Russian oil? MEA: I would not like to respond to queries on Russia or Russian oil. We have articulated our position. Our spokesperson would be the right person to respond.

Thank heavens, it's not a public road. He can walk home without a bother. Outside this area, the PM must travel with a security cordon of cars sophisticated with the best equipment. His security must never be compromised for austerity.

Decided to be a good citizen. Inspired by PM’s call for austerity, left the car at home. Auto to the Metro station: ₹30. Metro ticket: ₹30. Feeder bus for the last stretch: ₹20. Total one way: ₹80. Return journey: another ₹80. Grand daily total: ₹160. My car gives 14 kilometres to a litre. Office is 7 kilometres from home. Roughly ₹100 a day, door to door, including the petrol and the quiet dignity of arriving without fuss. Public transport, in other words, costs me ₹60 more than driving myself. Per day. In a city with a functioning Metro. This is what we call last-mile connectivity gap — the small, unglamorous gap between the grand infrastructure and your actual front door. Austerity, apparently, is for the commuter alone. The PM travels by motorcade. The last I checked.

1/ Owing to high barriers to entry, India’s lodging and hotels industry has become a cartel that raises prices at will and fleeces customers. India’s luxury hotel average daily rate (ADR) in Mumbai and Delhi now rival those of New York and London. Absurdly enough, the financial press sometimes celebrates this as some triumph of Indian hospitality. It is nothing of the sort. High prices are the unmistakable stamp of a supply-constrained market in a low income country, which should actually have a very competitively priced and deep pool of lodging options. The hotel industry is a structural failure being hyped as a success.

Yes of course we will comply with US sanctions on Russian LNG & import more expensive US LNG. That will be part of t&c of trade deal as well to reduce trade deficit with USA. In a way we are complying with American diktats on energy supplies with no strategic autonomy. We gave up Iranian Oil & Chabahar as well ! Pattern is visible sir ! India is the good boy of the world who will adhere to all rules laid down by the bully. In punjabi its called
Hardeep Singh Puri@HardeepSPuri

#CIIAnnualBusinessSummit26 #CII4India
