I did something I don't usually do and wrote about the genocide, in Hebrew, on the other social network. I wrote that all leftist politicians here need to answer a simple question: "Do you recognize the Palestinians as human?" If you do, will the first act in power by a government of which you are a member be an immediate instruction to stop the genocide?
I received several responses from ordinary Israelis. They all said the same thing: " A country in which feelings run strong (against Palestinians) it is impossible to speak against the genocide. It is not ok to use "occupation", so talk about "humanity" is politically comprising. But maybe some day it won't be. In preparation for today's vote (The Democrats are holding their primaries) not a single candidate said the very simple phrase (or a variation on the theme) I proposed above.
Israelis have time. Israelis always have time. Some day we will snap out of our totally justified fear and desire for revenge and then we might begin to prepare for the possibility of change. BTW, even minor changes are to be rewarded lavishly. This is difficult for us. We are not like them. We are always better, always right. We just need to remember that and so do all of you antisemites out there.
