Sometimes a President must do what is right for the country even it hurts him politically. President Trump has shown great political and personal courage to take this action against Iran. The Iranians have issued a fatwa to kill him and his family. For the rest of his life he will live under this threat. Salman Rushdie discovered that these fatwas last a lifetime. As someone who was at our Embassy in Tehran when it was overrun the first time on Feb 14, 1979, I applaud the President’s actions because the tyrannical, theocratic Iranian regime was hellbent on getting a nuclear weapon. We had a window of opportunity and took it. We have been humiliated and jerked around by Iran for 47 years. They have killed and maimed thousands of Americans. Despite numerous provocations, no President, including Ronald Reagan, had the courage to confront the leading state sponsor of terrorism. Hopefully, the Iranian people will take back their country.
