I’ve hesitated directly sharing this — outside of a couple RTs — because that’s how I’ve handled it when I’ve been on lists in the past. But I just remembered that kids in elementary school would make fun of me for having a Time Magazine in my backpack time.com/5626827/the-25…

So then the IRGC, lmao. The Pakistan or Egypt model is what some of us have flagged as the likely outcome — long before the war even started. And before anyone comes at me: he’s the one who said “no mullahs.” People think that automatically includes the IRGC, but it doesn’t. The IRGC may have been founded to protect the Islamic revolution and the power of the Supreme Leader but it has metastasized into a parallel state: controlling military operations, a sprawling economic empire worth hundreds of billions, and one of the region’s most sophisticated intelligence apparatuses. It doesn’t dissolve because someone utters the words “no mullahs.” The IRGC’s entrenchment is structural and not reliant on an ideological entrenchment. You can remove every cleric from power and the Guards remain — with their bases, their bonyads, their foreign networks, and their weapons. If you don’t understand that the IRGC is a sovereign economic entity, you don’t understand Iran. So many of you don’t know a thing about Iran and just keep talking nonsense.

To this point … I’m told by a senior oil broker most tanker owners won’t transit the strait at this point, even with a Navy escort. Confidence is predicated on a diplomatic resolution or (probably to a lesser extent) complete defeat of the Iranian regime. Regardless, timeline in any scenario is months or years … not weeks, per industry experts.
Emma Ashford@EmmaMAshford

This is probably accurate; it's certainly what happened during the tanker war. But the time frame here is also months or years -- not weeks. Just because we can claw back control of the Strait from Iran over time and at great cost will not protect economies in the interim.

Iranian authorities have secretly executed two political prisoners, Akbar Daneshvarkar from Tehran and Seyed Mohammad Taghavi Sangdehi from Amol, in Ghezel Hesar Prison in Karaj. With these executions, at least six political prisoners have been executed in Iranian prisons since the start of the war between the United States, Israel, and Iran. hengaw.net/en/news/2026/0…

This question today at the WH briefing definitely made my ears perk up. The answer made me rewind a few times to make sure I'd heard it correctly/actually transcribe in full for my notes. Great stuff from Ward & @meridithmcgraw

NEW: Trump told aides he’s willing to end the U.S. military campaign against Iran even if the Strait of Hormuz remains largely closed, administration officials said, likely extending Tehran’s firm grip on the waterway and leaving a complex operation to reopen it for a later date.

🚨 The myth that #Pahlavi is offering Iranians a "ballot box". They clearly haven't read the transition plan.
Ariya Neshaie@AriyaNeshaie

@Iranotopia @munzzz @yashar You seem awfully afraid of the ballot box for someone who supports democracy, it’s laughable. I had family killed in January shouting for monarchy like in the Scandinavian countries combining our heritage and history so don’t you dare make it sound like they don’t have a voice.

The Iranians believe they are winning this war. Israeli officials believe that perception must be broken before any agreement can be reached. But the price of doing so could be too high for the global economy, now held captive in Hormuz. My conversation with @dansenor and Fred Kagan on Call Me Back. youtu.be/ZzSaNfqgw2Y?si…

🚨 Former Crown Prince Reza Pahlavi has appointed himself and his secret council of neoconservative Washington insiders as the lords of Iran's next regime. 🚨 Mr. Pahlavi and his appointed architect for Iran's transition after the Islamist regime, Mr. SGhasseminejad, do not even feign using a consensual process to assume Iran's transitional leadership. See more of this $elf appointed tyranny at iranprosperityproject.org/EN.

The IDF took what appears to be unprecedented action against the battalion involved in my team's assault & detention. In many ways, that's due to our position as US journalists. In too many cases involving Palestinian journalists & civilians, we've seen a lack of accountability.

The Iran war has drawn in nearly the entire region since its start five weeks ago. One exception is the South Caucasus. Armenia and Azerbaijan have strived - so far, largely successfully - to avoid the conflict, but can they succeed? My latest: cbc.ca/news/world/arm…
