We had such a lovely day at Westonbirt Arboretum. We learnt so much about the different plants that grow there and loved exploring! @RodbourneCheney

We had such a fun day concluding our Kings and Queens topic! We made our own laws, learned a royal dance and created our own crowns. @RodbourneCheney

To celebrate Number Day, we played bingo! We had to hunt around the classroom for the numbers to fill our boards and then had to see which numbers would make BINGO! @Year4_RCPS @RodbourneCheney

Christmas has arrived in Year 1! Each day we have been unwrapping one book from under the tree and have loved listening to the different stories! It has been such a fun way to promote reading in our classroom. @RodbourneCheney

Year 1 went to Dragon School! We loved transforming into dragons and completing the 5 days of dragon school just like Zog does in our new story! We even breathed fire and rescued a princess! @RodbourneCheney

Year 1 have been busy writing their Big Write this week! They have worked so hard creating some brilliant character descriptions of Bog Baby! It was lovely to see everyone being celebrated as they shared their work with their friends! @RodbourneCheney

For Remembrance Day, Year 1 created some beautiful artwork. We used watercolours for the background and then used cotton buds and paint to add poppies, clouds and grass in an impressionist style. @RodbourneCheney

To immerse ourselves into our new Peru topic we tried Paddington's favourite food...marmalade sandwiches! Everyone had a bite but our class were split on whether they were yucky or delicious! @RodbourneCheney

Year 1 were inspired by our 'Explorers' topic to create beautiful sea paintings. They loved exploring the different methods of painting through the use of paintbrushes, sponges and their fingers! @RodbourneCheney

In Year 2, the children have been working hard in DT to create moving pictures to teach reception children about a habitat. The children were so creative using moving elements and different materials to engage their audience. We loved sharing our creations with @PeacocksRcps!

In honour of VE Day, Year 2 created a piece of art to show the celebration associated with this special day. They worked so hard and I think that shows in the outstanding artwork they created! @RodbourneCheney

We are so proud of our fantastic Year 2 football team who played in a football tournament this afternoon. We played four games, winning three of them and scoring eight goals. They represented the school brilliantly too, showing respect at all times. What a team! ⚽️ ⚽️ ⚽️

For our writing hook this term we found a map in a bottle to help us discover our treasure (our new writing book). We followed the clues to find the treasure and found our book 'The Pirate Cruncher' and a 'boat' where we could 'walk the plank'! @RodbourneCheney

Just some examples of the excellent paintings produced by our Y2 artists this week! We were inspired by LS Lowry's seascapes and our recent trip to Clevedon Pier! We used sketching and watercolour to recreate the coastal images. @RodbourneCheney

Today in computing, Year 2 made a pictogram showing their favourite fruits! They were great at interpreting the data to answer questions too! Who knew oranges were so popular!

Friday is performance day! Check out our fabulous Year 2 class perform their weekly text as part of their @WhiteHorseFed Readers Theatre Guided Reading lesson. Such brilliant and confident orators. Well done Miss Brown and @Parrots_rcps 🌟

For Remembrance Day this year, Year 2 learned about the 1914 Christmas Day truce. We learned about the day of peace and the kindness that the soldiers showed. We then acted it out outside and had a game of football- just like the soldiers did!

The children wrote some brilliant diary entries in our writing lessons last week pretending to be an alien on the moon! The children were so proud of their amazing work and shared their diary entry with a partner. I loved hearing all the kind feedback they have each other!
