We heard from women during the pandemic who were pressured to remove their masks during the so customers could judge their appearance for tips, while POC endured racism just to provide for their families. This isn't just about his success; it's about an industry where the majority of workers are women and POC struggling for respect and fair treatment. Nate Shannon was also privileged enough to not have to work at a restaurant that forced him to tip out BOH or stole his tips or underpaid him on slow days.
