Cedars-Sinai, a leading hospital in Los Angeles, has integrated OpenEvidence, an AI clinical assistant, directly into its Epic EHR system. This allows doctors to ask complex personalised questions like “What’s the best pneumonia treatment for this specific patient?” Open evidence instantly retrieves the patient’s allergies medications history and other details from Epic and then combines them with the latest medical research to provide a personalised evidence-based response. NB: A significant privacy advantage is that OpenEvidence doesn’t store any patient data. It only accesses what’s necessary for a single conversation and then deletes it afterwards. Furthermore, it doesn’t use real patient records for training. OpenEvidence is built using a “data-centric” approach, trained on millions of peer-reviewed medical papers rather than random internet text. (Major win considering hallucinations of AI risk is lowered) This marks one of the first major hospital-wide rollouts of truly patient-aware AI, representing an exciting step towards safer and more personalised medicine.
OpenEvidence@EvidenceOpen

Until now, physicians using AI in clinic had to assemble the patient’s context themselves. Allergies, comorbidities, medications, prior procedures, copy-pasted in from the chart. Today we’re announcing a partnership with @CedarsSinai. OpenEvidence now works directly inside Epic, drawing on the patient’s full record and interpreting the medical literature through the lens of that specific patient. Cedars-Sinai is the first academic health system to deploy patient-aware clinical intelligence at enterprise scale. The clinician asks a complex question in natural language. The answer reflects both the best available evidence and the patient in front of them. Patient data is never stored after the clinical session or used for any other purpose.

Medical illustration, for me, is the product of training, observation, learning anatomy/concepts & communicating it in a way that makes sense to others. Learning to value my time, perspective & skills I've shown on journal covers, in books, & to patients. Open for collabs!✍️

American Heart Association
American Heart Association@American_Heart·
The American Heart Association mourns the passing of the legendary cardiologist Eugene Braunwald, M.D., widely recognized as one of the most influential figures in the history of cardiovascular medicine. Over seven decades, his work reshaped the understanding and treatment of heart disease, leading many to call him the father of modern cardiology. Braunwald was a lifelong contributor to the American Heart Association, helping advance its research and scientific mission, and was honored with some of the Association’s highest honors for his lasting influence on cardiovascular care and research. His influence extended well beyond his own discoveries, as generations of Association‑supported investigators, clinicians and academic leaders were trained by Braunwald or guided by the clinical trial standards and mentorship models he helped establish. newsroom.heart.org/news/american-…

Artemis II's landing was so perfectly calculated by NASA scientists that they managed to predict the exact time the astronauts landed, down to the second. 8:07:27PM EST was the time they predicted, and they nailed it.

Man was having sex with his wife during sleep almost daily. After waking up, he had no memory of the intercourse. Because of this, he would complain about their lack of sex in the relationship while awake. He was diagnosed with a sleep disorder called sexsomnia and this device 👇 helped save their relationship. A 37-year-old man had sexual relations during sleep with his wife on a nightly basis for many years. He had no recollection of these episodes, even though he would invariably initiate the sexual activity. This surprised him. He remembered his wife telling him about it many times, but he dismissed it in disbelief. He eventually realized that he had been having nocturnal sex outside of awareness for 13 years. He would protest to his wife about the lack of sex in their relationship, and she would respond, “You don’t remember it.” She explained that they would have sex in the middle of the night once or twice a week, but over a six-month period, the frequency increased to every night. His snoring was first noticed around the time these episodes began. He would typically initiate sex between midnight and 2AM, after they had fallen asleep around 9PM. According to his wife, the sex during these episodes was “wild,” but never violent. He would perform oral sex—something he never did while awake, despite his wife’s requests. Afterward, he would wash himself, return to bed, and fall back asleep, with no recall of the sexual event. When he requested sex while awake, his wife would refuse, citing their sexual activity the night before. He assumed she was “making an excuse.” Once he realized he was sexually active with her without remembering it, he felt embarrassed. He then understood her reluctance and became remorseful, especially because he had suspected she might have been unfaithful. His medical history included sleepwalking between the ages of 6 and 13 years. There was no history of psychiatric illness or substance abuse. A sleep study revealed obstructive sleep apnea (OSA). Arousals related to OSA were identified as the trigger for his sleep-related abnormal sexual behavior (sexsomnia). He was advised to use a mandibular advancement device (MAD) for his OSA. After starting the MAD, the sexsomnia stopped immediately. Five months later, he developed jaw pain and switched to nasal CPAP therapy, and the sexsomnia remained absent over six months of follow-up.

📄 Sex during neutropenia? An overlooked topic in oncology practice at @JCOOP_ASCO ascopubs.org/doi/10.1200/OP… 🎯 Sexual health remains key for QoL 💥 No strong evidence for strict restrictions ☝🏼 Avoid anal sex, new partners, severe mucositis 🚨 Consider condoms briefly post-CT (drug exposure to the partner + contraception if pregnancy is possible) Counseling should be individualized, not dogmatic!! In neutropenia, it’s not “no sex”…it’s “know sex”💡 @OncoAlert @OncoReporte @myESMO @ASCO @_SEOM @HemOncFellows

A message from NASA astronaut Christina Koch who has now arrived safely back to Earth: "To everyone who has been following my journey, I want to sincerely thank you for your continued support — it truly means everything. Being part of the Artemis II mission is not just a personal milestone, but a step forward for all of us who believe in exploration and possibility. To the young women and aspiring explorers out there: never doubt what you’re capable of. Your dreams are valid, your voice matters, and your place in science, engineering, and space is absolutely yours to claim. I hope my journey reminds you that no goal is too far, and no dream is out of reach when you commit to it. And to everyone inspired or interested in this path — stay curious, stay driven, and don’t be afraid to take that first step. I’m always grateful to connect with people who share the same passion, so feel free to reach out and be part of this journey with us."
