The UK's Tax Gap stands at £46.8 billion (difference between what should be paid to HMRC & what is paid) Contrast that with the total fraud amount in welfare system: £9.9 billion Yet there's disproportionate coverage of the latter by both media & politicians Can't think why 🙃

What is proposed are NOT reforms. You know that, I know that, everyone including the Government know that. What is being implemented is driven by financial designs. It's not to make massive improvements to the lives of the vulnerable - it can't be because we've seen the suggestions. It won't place tens of thousands of chronically ill people in jobs which are tailored to their needs - the job coaches audit proved that to be unachievable. What it does do is misinform the electorate that support such as PIP is easily obtained. In fact the myth of applicants being lavished with thousands because they have tennis elbow or are a bit fed up is peddled readily.

Oh please! Those viral “£71k on benefits” claims are always based on very rare, very specific London-rent scenarios, multiple children, disability elements, carers, or temporary housing costs. That is not the same as someone casually “earning” £71k.

Remember the Charing Cross incident? Where the train was in, staff told me to wait for the ramp at the platform, I positioned myself next to the door and then they dispatched the train? SouthEastern have sent this offensive communique.

@Doug_Paulley @Se_Railway This is not acceptable Doug. I apologise unreservedly on behalf of @Se_Railway. An investigation is underway. This is a train dispatch irregularity as well as a failed assist. Our team will be in touch with you.

Lady Casey, who is leading an independent review of adult social care, criticised a system that “still behaves as if we are living in 1948 and not 2026” by relying on Unpaid carers to plug gaps in services. #NeededInScotlandToo theguardian.com/society/2026/m…

@Helen_Whately Seen as Helen doesn’t post the truth about how mobility points are gained, I will, off gov website, section 2.4 activities 11 and 12. You may notice it doesn’t cover tennis elbow or acne! Try showing integrity Helen, it’s expected as an MP! gov.uk/government/pub…

The UK government’s latest grab for patient data is happening at the worst possible time. A single patient record is a good end goal. But the timing sets it up to be an expensive—and potentially toxic—mistake, writes @rebeccacoombes bmj.com/content/393/bm…

Can someone please explain to me why anyone is homeless or in poverty in this country if you can apparently get 72k a year in benefits by not working? Why, the UK must be the most equal country in the world! Something doesn't quite add up here. 🤔

Disabled people just want to boldly go where everyone is going (thank to @MikScarlet for that one!) . The biggest barrier to accessibility is places just not considering it. @York_Minster is showing exactly what can be done with a bit of thought!

@YorkDisability @York_Minster I was really impressed with the Minster when I was up. Another case that proves access can be done in listed buildings, & done well.
