Denmark has introduced a wonderful initiative that converts old buses into mobile grocery stores, specially designed to serve elderly residents in rural and remote areas. These repurposed buses are fully equipped with wheelchair ramps, heating and air-conditioning systems, refrigerators, and shelves stocked with fresh local produce, dairy, and baked goods. They follow fixed routes and schedules, bringing essential groceries directly to seniors who may find it difficult to travel to regular supermarkets. Beyond providing practical access to food, the service helps older adults maintain their independence while offering valuable social interaction for those who might otherwise feel isolated. The mobile stores have become a thoughtful and effective solution for supporting aging communities.

@BBCr4today I thought Baroness Brown made a good case for #climate adaptation particularly to do with heat but I’m sceptical as to whether we’ll ever need to do this in the *northern* half of mainland UK where I live. I’ve never felt the need for air con yet.

"Heat is the most deadly of the risks that climate change is bringing." Baroness Brown, from the Climate Change Committee, argues the UK must bring in measures like more air conditioning and a new legal maximum workplace temperatures in response to climate change.

@CarlBovisNature @DavidBeckler1 Here’s the greylag geese at Center Parcs Sherwood Forest with their goslings this last week. We also saw Canada geese with goslings but we see them all the time in N Yorks.

Wait for it - so much trash removed! And a new little creature arrived... Meet one of Scorpion Reef’s hermit crabs — a small but important part of the ecosystem in the Gulf of Mexico. Hermit crabs don’t grow their own shells. Instead, they recycle abandoned snail shells for protection, upgrading homes as they grow. Even the smallest creatures play a role in protecting the ocean. 🌊 Visit SeaShepherd.org to help!

In China, social skills such as cooking are taught from an early age and reinforced throughout school life. They are viewed not as hobbies, but as essential practical life skills.

To celebrate David Attenborough turning 100, I’m planting seeds instead of sending flowers. 🌱 These wildflowers will support bees, butterflies, and local wildlife—a Kind Act for Animals that I think Sir David would love. Every small action matters. @RSPCA_official

Don't forget it's NO MOW MAY. 💚 No Mow May is Plantlife’s annual campaign urging everyone to pack away the lawnmower, let wildflowers grow freely and help nature from your doorstep. From May onwards, simply stop mowing your lawn (or even just a small part of it) and do more by doing less. No lawn is too small! Even the tiniest wild patch can provide vital food needed by bees and butterflies and give wildlife the best start to summer. Read more here: plantlife.org.uk/campaigns/nomo…
