@MattCouture5 @Indistinct__ @camkav8 Ignoring the Epstein Transparancy Act, and Supreme Court decisions on his tariffs too. Launching an illegal offensive war without congressional approval. He does whatever he wants with no regard to the checks and balances of the legislative and judicial branches

Free-agent left-handed reliever Danny Coulombe in agreement with Red Sox on one-year, major-league contract, source tells @TheAthletic

The Red Sox could go with Marcelo Mayer at 3B and a platoon of Romy Gonzalez and David Hamilton at 2B, per @JonHeyman.
Mentions again they’ve talked about Nico Hoerner (and Isaac Paredes), but says it’s likely the Cubs keep him.

@MattyB0814 @Buster_ESPN They got too cute with the deferment schedule and no trade clause. Total $ they offered was more

In the end, the Red Sox offered more money to Ranger Suarez ($130m present day value) than they offered Alex Bregman (closer to $120m NPV) over five-year deals. Given what Bregman was to their team and clubhouse last year, his unique two-way skills in a market that paid Pete Alonso $155m and Schwarber $150m, that makes no sense. Major miscalculation.
English

According to @PeteAbe Alex Bregman “was prepared to accept five years and $165 million until the team balked at the no-trade clause and insisted on deferred payments that reduced the present-day value of the contract.
Had the Sox granted him no-trade protection and negotiated more favorable deferrals, Bregman would still be with the team, according to a source familiar with the process.
Instead he was told this was the team’s final offer.”

@jayhaykid Gee it’s almost like he was playing hurt or something….

Alex Bregman's .536 OPS from Aug. 23 to the end of the season was the 8th-worst in MLB over that span.
Bregman had a .933 OPS through Aug. 22.
