My eldest brother was born in 1947. He was breeched. There was no medical support and Mam and Dad lived in a cold damp slum. He died at birth. I was born in 1952. I was also breeched. I survived. The NHS and a warm safe council house saved me. I owe my life to the welfare state.

@taraannosaur @jamesfbrophy well, over here, the people who did the most fighting for Irish women were gender-critical feminists. Everyone else was too busy trying to get pink lego removed from toy shops and tellking women not to "centre" their vaginas.

Today I had plans to: sort out my room, go for a walk with the dogs, clean the kitchen and bathroom, and cook a healthy lunch for myself. Instead today I: snoozed A LOT, practised putting on false eyelashes (and gave up pretty quickly) and ate two bags of crisps. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Canvassing has conditioned me to respond to confrontation in an overly polite manner. My mom gave out to me over the number of cups she found in my room and I smiled, said "That's no problem at all. Have a nice evening", and left making sure I closed the gate on my way out.
