Believe it or not college recruiters and MLB scouts won’t mark you down for a bad game. In fact many would welcome the opportunity to see it. See how you handle yourself when things aren’t easy and smooth. They want to see how you handle adversity because at the next level you will be challenged in ways you haven’t been yet if you are in fact good enough to play at the next level. So instead of feeling embarrassed and thinking it’s the end of the world, step up and rise to the occasion. Show everyone how good you really are when you don’t have your best stuff.

Youth sports are not about obtaining a future scholarship. If you want a guaranteed scholarship, save all the money you will pay on travel ball and related expenses through the years. It will likely pay for 100% of college. The other best route is academics. Remember, most baseball scholarships are 25% - 30%. Thus, it is critical to keep perspective. Play for fun. Yes, do your best to be your best. But keep it fun. As a player grows and develops it will become evident in HS (at some point) if the next level might be a possibility. And even then, we must still keep it fun. If your sole motive is scholarship, you will likely lose out on so much of what the game has to offer. Just my take.
