I’ve prepared a GIF showing the drawing process of Alice ✨
From the initial sketch to the final coloring, every step is included.
Thank you all so much for loving this piece 💙
@sillyoumaximus I just use it as a pure reference. It’s mainly for checking values, composition, and structure before I move on to color, not really part of any layer or masking workflow~
@oddlairr The key to composition is simply to define a clear focal point, then use leading lines to guide the viewer’s eye toward it. This is very important!💙
@sillyoumaximus The main thing when going from grayscale to color is picking the ambient color. Once that’s set, you just tweak the colors so they look right under that lighting. I hope this answers your question!💙
@Vohkun That’s a great question! I usually hand-draw simpler backgrounds, but for more complex ones, I use 3D tools as assistance. This piece took around 50–60 hours to complete, not including the time spent gathering references. Hope that answers your question!
@YuenIllus Do you usually draw the background like this all by hand? or have you considered using 3D on to make things easier? Also, how long do you usually take on finishing a piece like this?
