Update: sewage cleaned, bath tub cleaned, giant hole in yard, plumbing for backup fixed yet toilet still won’t flush properly.

Tenant in Charlotte, NC – Raw Sewage Backup in Home Rented from Mainstreet Renewal. Sewage backing up since 08/08. Reported multiple times with no repair date. Violates NC law §42-42. Will Contact Code Enforcement. @MainStRenewal Please treat as emergency and confirm repair date.

The vents are filthy, and no one will get on the roof to clean them. Dirty vents aren’t just gross—they’re a serious fire hazard, and we can’t even use our dryer properly because of it.

@MainStRenewal = no communication. Charges us if WE don’t cancel, but cancels w/ no notice. Techs make excuses, mark jobs “done” w/ nothing fixed. 4 calls for a toilet, still broken. AC won’t cool the house → rooms hot + insane bills from their portable unit.

@Mainstrenewal only responds when I tweet publicly about emergencies. If I call or submit requests, I get ignored. Tenants shouldn’t have to beg on social media just to get basic maintenance.

And it’s not just us. A previous tenant told us @Mainstrenewal left them with no heat for months in the winter. This isn’t a one-time mistake—it’s a pattern of ignoring basic living needs.

On top of everything, their call center refuses to let me speak to a property manager—just endless transfers, disconnects, and no accountability. Tenants deserve to be HEARD, not silenced.

The AC can’t even cool the house. Our bedrooms are hot. Their “solution”? A portable unit that sends our electricity bill through the roof instead of fixing the real issue.

The whole upstairs creaks like the ceiling’s about to collapse. Yet they brush it off and never send anyone to actually investigate.

We’ve called 4 times for the SAME toilet. Each time—dismissive techs, excuses like “that’s just the way it is.” Guess what! It backed up, plumbing “cleaned,” but the toilet STILL doesn’t flush right.

When techs do show up, they don’t fix anything. They just take pics, send them to vendors, then jobs get marked “complete.” Nothing changes and I have to start all over.

They charge us if WE don’t cancel a maintenance request 24 hrs ahead, but when THEY cancel? No notice, no accountability

@MainStRenewal I’m still not receiving any help with the sewage situation in my home. Mainstreet is expecting me to relocate into a one room with four roommates and pay out of pocket for pet fees at the hotel for a situation we haven’t even caused. Our home isn’t habitable.
