@sharp_writing The majority of people the world over show a preference to live in big cities. Not building new complexes in Tokyo won’t reverse the trend. What would be great, admittedly, is if the developers had a bit more imagination around what to house in each complex.

Not just transit, but Google Maps has absolutely lost the plot in Japan over the past couple of months. I had to screenshot these daft walking instructions it tried to serve me a few weeks ago (Apple Maps correctly suggested the route in red.)

There's been a lot of loose talk from smart people about "close air support" and "no fly zones" for Ukraine. Let's just be clear what that is - the U.S. and Russia at war. It's a bad idea and Congress would never authorize it.

Really think people are not paying enough attention to how Kishida's resdistribution policies seek almost to repudiate Abenomics (unlike Suga, who basically continued it.) Perhaps this interview with him in the FT will help spread awareness:
